Low miles

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Richie Rich, Jan 1, 2013.

  1. I reckon most people lie about how many miles they do on a run. All the people I know on bikes just ride 'em to mates' houses or to the pub, but on most forums people will make it sound like they knocked out a quick lap of Europe before breakfast...

  2. Now if you'd said after breakfast fig......

Anyway how's the sprawling metropolis today?

  3. I was in Mayfair. It's always good in Mayfair:upyeah:

  4. Mine '07 has almost 16k on the clock... and now when I'm trying to sell it it's driving me nuts that this is considered to be high milage

  5. Think you could be right !

  6. always had some form of italian bikes over the last 25 odd years always loved them
seem to spend more time working on them than riding them but dont care
    must be a sadist lol:biggrin:

  7. Mine was two years old before it ever turned a wheel. It was exported to Dubai without being registered, spending two years in a sheiks living room. It first saw the road in the year 2000 after being repatriated to the UK.

  8. I was amazed when We bought a 2005 Multistrada 620 for my lad.; it had 2400 miles on that's just 400 per year, all backed up by previous MOT's.
Doubt it's been sitting in someone's lounge not quite got superbike looks

  9. I had a lot of bother selling my GSXR this autumn. 2007 model and it had just under 20k on it. All by me. Was told it was too high a mileage and put off a lot of buyers. It was mint and had zero problems. But the mileage definitely discouraged folk.

They're for riding. I'll be using the 848 at every chance - no doubt.

  10. clocks are rubbish and have to be replaced and no one mentions the miles !

  11. Hey, hang on a minute there Fig ...

  12. Ahem..you're a Masochist.

In your case being a sadist would involve making someone else fix your bike and then not letting them ride it.

    Humbug the pedant.

  13. Present company excepted, Squire:wink:

  14. ok stand corrected i must be a bit of both then heh heh

  15. I don't know how people can do it. When I got my street fighter I couldn't get off the thing. 16000 miles in 10 months, week nights and weekends, loved every second.

  16. Up until last year, I did 7k leisure miles min each year out most weekends in summer and riding all year round even Dec and Jan on occasion. Racing put a stop to that but hoping I fall back imto love with road riding this year and bang some miles out

  17. I was sitting here thinking about how many miles I ride each year, and it suddenly dawned on me why there are so many low-mileage bikes around - multiple bike ownership. How many of you have more than one bike? And how many of you save the Duke for 'best'? I probably ride about 8000 miles a year, but the fuglystrada hasn't seen the light of day since october.

  18. I bought mine with exactly 5k on the clock. Its upto around 7.5k now after one 'summer'. I intend riding it as often as time allows. My Zx7 does more miles as I ride it to and from Central London daily. It is a shame that more bikes dont get ridden as much as they should, but then in 10 years time there's more chance that we'll be drooling over them as they look so flippin good

  19. I won't use mine in the week because I don't want to leave it on the street, there's no secure parking etc. Weekends are busy and generally I prefer to have a destination to ride to rather than leaving the house, getting to the bottom of the road and think 'where do I go now' you generally end up arriving back home in about 45 minutes. Feel another NYR coming up ?

  20. Easy to clock, most have done 80k miles
