Hi all It looks like I have struck a decent deal on this 750. Mods, please delete every negative thing I said about the carby. I just had fairing envy, that was all. The seat unit appears to be real Ducati, the silencers are Termi and there is a spare 1992 tank for it. I'll be selling the seat unit, silencers and one tank on ebay as soon as i get it in the warehouse. Reason for the sale is this project is going to be my carbon project. I hope to dress it in carbon everywhere, so the fuel tank, all panels and most other plastics will be gloss plain weave carbon. I also hope to make my own high mount silencers in the style of Termis. Not doing the mechanical stuff this time, like I did on my IE. Just see how much weight can be saved by going full carbon and what it looks like. I pick it up on Sunday but have never tried to put a motorbike in a Vauxhall Combo. I think if I take the mirrors and nose off and run the front wheel over the handbrake it will go in. Looking to do swaps for full fairing panels if anyone has a pair and is keen for a nuda option. I hope I have this correct, the panels are a straight swap int erms of fixing points? Aah, it will be good to be back....it's them engines innit.
Yes, the fairings swap straight over, the only difference is that if you're going the other way, the half fairing requires an additional little bracket (that is fitted on your bike) for the rearmost mounting bolt - the full fairing does not require it
Agree, you've only for to eat a Big Mac and you'll loose those precious few grams saved by throwing carbon tat at it Was that a machine gun I just heard? Oh no, it was just 'tat at it'
Sev, was it a standard offering on non-SL bikes, then? Like an accessory in the catalogue or the bike had its own place in the catalogue, the SS single seater? I assumed the buyer just went into the spares department and ordered the seat unit himself, at the point of purchasing the bike
It's a 750, though, not a 900...is what you say still the csae? Also, someone has told me all the bodywork on the carbies is fibre glass. I don't recall noticing that last time I had a carby. I recall the fairing being plastic?
I’ve got a set of right-year bodywork inc tank. I’m totally open to a conversation about your half fairing and superlight seat unit. PM me.
I'm thinking of doing moulds for the full fairing and smoothing out the mirror mounts on the nose cone. And I'm thinking of doing a tank too. That's the big question mark, as I can't sell them for the street and it will be expensive to make. If the spare tank that comes with it is the early breather type, that's another dilemma...which version to make. I can't justify doing both. I'v been umming and aahing about doing these parts for ages now.
Here's some made by the seller here in NZ, https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/parts-for-sale/fairing-body-work/auction-1464218815.htm
