V4 V4 Air Filter Removal

  1. As previously mentioned. judging by the way the front subframe bolts over the air filter housing, I wonder how easy this is going to be to remove come servicing or general maintenance time.

  2. It looks nice and clean. If the filter housing comes off through the forks once the dash is off which it probably does then I reckon it's better than the current arrangement of having to lift the tank and other gubbins to remove the filter. It's always going to be a bit of hassle on a road bike whatever you do as they have so many bits of plastic and fittings but for a race bike it looks promising, which is really what it should be concentrating on as it's not just a blinged up bike for people to polish and admire.

My big remaining question is what belly pan solution can we use as sorting out the current Panigale to be be race legal is a lot of hassle and whilst the volume of the belly pan is legal; in my opinion its way to small for the amount of oil in the engine.

  3. Think it's as simple as two screws and pull the filter housing out of the side from what I could gather...
If you're after belly pan kits, I've got a couple of DP kits going cheap ;)

  4. Have you ordered one? If so you can afford for a trained technician to do it for you. If not, why are you bothered? ;)

  5. Well since I have a penchant for doing any maintenance myself which invariably ends up in me taking the bike to bits and rebuilding it, it's good to know how these things work, in the absence of a workshop manual (yet). I'm quite confident I can remove an air filter. Just musing over how it's done, is all.

  6. Incidentally El T, since you are going to the VIP evening on Monday, can you try and take some photos of the various nooks and crannies (area around the airbox, headstock, inter-cylinder area) if they have a naked V4 on display, as I doubt I will get anywhere near the V4 on the Saturday at the NEC with the inevitable hordes wanting to sit on it, touch it, have selfies on it. I would like to issue a challenge to anyone attending the VIP evening to get Ducati UK to remove the tank top panel and allow some pics of the electronics bay underneath and the underseat storage (if there is one). Plus a video of the settings pages on the instrument panel. Gauntlet hereby laid down.

  7. If I can I will :) :upyeah:

  8. You da man!

  9. Cheers mate, I got an R6 for the racing in the end. I did have a belly pan for the Pani but took it off again as it was a getting hot without the fan on there when cruising around. If I ever raced one I think I'd want to get an uprated rad as well.

  10. I reckon the likes of wsbk will have a shallower sump to allow for more clearance

  11. Do you think? I have no idea but would have thought they would want to keep the oil capacity? Do they just modify the shape on the current one??

  12. The one of the 1199 currently is standard but they only run 3.8 litres of oil as opposed to the 4.4 i think it is with the standard bikes.
So there could be room for error. As for the access to the airbox looks like the whole front end would come away after undoing wires etc would be handy if the clutch line was on a quick release coupler

  15. Spent 5 minutes looking at the V4, and 30 minutes admiring the RGV coming apart on the Suzuki stand. Go figure

  19. As the entire UK allocation of all 3 models was sold out by the of the first week after the launch, clearly others don't agree with your somewhat negetive opinion. Andy

  20. The plastics on the frame/tank looked fiddly and costly.
