The first V4 rolled off the production line on Wednesday. I am assuming the other two flanking it were pre-production or EICMA show bikes. Domenicali doesn't seem overly enthused about it mind you.
Bit premature with the champagne, they ain't finished building it yet, still a lot can go wrong with an Italian bike when its only half finished
best time to drink it... nothing's gone wrong, yet... I hope the bloke fitting the panels doesn't have too much before finishing off.
bikers are a bunch of moaning old bastards at the best of times, i bet he couldnt give a shiney shite, its not like they wont be flying off the stands lol
went to nec show mon little disappointed they haven't changed anything realy looks wise from 1299/1199 ,not even the color unless u go for the £35 grand one, & will the engine feel just like the aprilla. I do a lot of track days so I am concerned about it passing our ridiculous low noise limits, as I had so much hasel wen I had my 1199 , the front mudguard is very close to the tyre so it will be hard to get a tyre warmer on I think. I was going to put a deposit on one but I think I will wait till I have had a test ride
My thoughts summarised, Looks great from the front, decent from the back but the side fairing just doesn’t look right on the base and S model. It doesn’t look very finished (many comments made by onlookers about it looking ‘slabby’) Feels different to sit on, dare I say it more comfortable ... Regarding track noise, I have spoken to the man from California super bike school who’ve been testing them as well as the technical guy from Ducati Bologna, they’ve said it’s roughly 1db quieter than the previous model on both fly by and static. It isn’t as pretty as the outgoing bike, I think there will possibly be some visual updates to the bike down the line... The R version is coming back end of next year, according to the man from Ducati it’ll be more powerful but make its power differently (less torque through the range). Wouldn’t comment on price but I have a feeling it’s going to be similar to the speciale... Looking at the stripped down bike and it’s frame, I’m not sure it’s going to crash very well, again a fair few track riders pointed this out According to Ducati their early prototype v4 is 1.5 seconds faster than a developed 1299 S Round mugello
From the front, it just looks like some chav has taken the headlights out and fitted them £5 a metre led lights in the empty hole. Add to that the back looks like a baboons arse, I can see why ducati big cheeses might be worried
According to many dealers last night they’ve got a lot of pre orders.. In my mind this is due to the bikes power! However as I’ve said loads of times in this thread we all know there’s a new bmw on its way.. I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t exceed the new v4’s output
I think u have hit the nail on the head , its just that power that people r going for, but I cant see how it will feel any different to ride then the aprillia which I have owned before ,it was a great bike but if it feels the same to ride there is no point in getting one for the sake of a few horse power ,& I don't want to get a new v4 & have trouble with noise & getting tyre warmers on. I may change my mind once I have ridding a demo
I had a look at the new rsv4 rr and rf yesterday, I would consider one to be honest they’ve really thrown everything at it! Even got cruise control which I love! 201bhp with standard system and 208 with full system, more than enough.
Which is still a further 2 seconds slower than a standard multistrada dvt 'in the real world'....jeez, I don't know why they bother
Base model Aprilia RSV4 RR is coming in at £15495, looks great in the Ascari Black/Red as seen at the NEC yesterday, its got me thinking anyway.
Aprilia are really odd, they've got what has been consistently rated one of, if not the best race bikes available for the last five years and they still seem to have crap dealer support. I would probably have bought one if I thought I could rely on them to sort issues quickly but I just dont have that confidence. Ducati doing a V4 is perfect in my opinion, the high price is the only downside but thats standard Ducati so as long as it lives up to the hype then I'm sure it will fly off the forecourts.
Yeah agreed. The rsv4 has always been rated one of the best, even more so since the RR and RF versions include more leading edge technology. I love the idea of the individual mapping per track, I mean that's proper GP tech. I'm not so badly placed geographically in regard to the dealers, but yes they could do with a few more
