I love my vinyl and have a great system - Linn LP12, Musical Fidelity Class A amp and Monitor Audio speakers. I have about 1,000 LPs so I'm not looking to buy them all again on CD, but I'm looking to add a decent CD player because I have a hundred or so CDs that I currently play on an old Ariston unit. I'm not a fan of streaming services. Can anyone recommend a CD player that produces anywhere near the detail of the LP12, or is the medium of CD itself just not capable of making that amount of detail available?
Hi l love vinyl too and cherish my Thorens record player but I have to say that the Oppo UDP 205 is the next best thing, plays everything and is a SACD player, give it a look.
Had a Marantz CD60002 plugged into a Yamaha DSPX836SE AV amp and Monitor Audio speakers for a number of years and have been very happy with it. The newer version of the 6002 gets good reviews. I still have and still enjoy my old Pioneer PL12D . Andy
You wont get near to the LP12 with a CD player. You can get a decent sound though.Depends on your budget but marantz do some good players.
I too have an LP12, fully loaded. For the odd time I do play CD's I have a Naim CDX2, even @2.5K don t expect the results of Vinyl and a well sorted LP12, however I can recommend Naim - fantastic company.
The best thing to do is go and listen. We can give a thousand recommendations but if ,to your ears ,they sound rubbish then its a waste of time.Go to a few hifi shops and get them to impress you.Just listen to as many as you can be arsed to,in a few different price ranges.
Of course. I was just asking for recommendations for players to audition. When I bought my set-up in 1988, I auditioned a top-end Meridian CD player and a Linn Axis alongside the LP12 and found neither came anywhere near it.
