Wait, what? Politicians are breaking their promises now? How ... Why... I don't even ... *mind blown* Still, this has come up in a Brexit thread so can someone please clarify - will politicians stop breaking their promises after Brexit, or will they start breaking them? Which is it?
I don't know if you are telling the truth Noobie, that might be a misquote. Anyhow it's not the point is it really?
I am telling the truth sir, had Labour won as they claimed they would, then they would be in the big chair and yet they are not. Platitudes such as "our manifesto is costed" and yet when they were asked just how will you force a private industry to sell you the utilities back or how will you fund these buy backs, the only thought going through their heads was how on earth do I get out of this one. Or "vote for us and we will wipe out school student fee's the day we take office" whilst also saying they would "look at retro re-embursment" that again when asked, came out with, we only said "we would look at it". My point is, when talking about politicians and broken promises, when giving examples and as to not look like bias, it would help if you gave more than just "the tories"
Noobie, I was replying to a previous post which slated the Labour party -so doing exactly what you say is right and correct. Now you are complaining that I am balancing the picture? Seems odd! Student debt? Noobie, that might be a misquote. https://www.channel4.com/news/factcheck/no-corbyn-did-not-pledge-to-abolish-student-debt. Though perhaps you have some other independent source which says otherwise? Maybe an actual quote - I'd be interested to see/ hear it? I am slightly disappointed that you did not agree that all those government promises should have been upheld. Afterall isn't that why you like and vote for them?
what? hmm, theres about 5 or 6 regular contributors to this thread, why not have a wee private convo so you can chat among your self?. how can it be misguided when it was a vote on how we should be governed? surely that's always gonna be opinion? my opinion differs from yours, you voted for your reasons i voted for mine, and one of my reasons believes the uk gov is gonna start "taking back control" from me. my vote was based on how the uk parliament performs whether it be left or right and how it goes about it's business, we are where we are because of the uk parliamentary system and everything that goes with it, not because of the EU. you voted for giving them unfettered control. why? was it just because you wanted to be a very naughty boy?
Probably the Mail, Express or Telegraph as apparently everything they print is true and everything the BBC says is bollox and lies.
Hmmmmm, lets see. I think he meant that he would abolish student debt from the point they were elected and that from 2017 / 2018 onwards students would not pay fees. I came to this conclusion because he said something like "We would abolish student debt from the point we were elected and that from 2017 / 2018 onwards students would not pay fees" If I was a student with a student loan debt, Jezza was going to pay it for me. If I was going to university from 2017 onwatds, Jezza was going to fund it for me.
I think the problems in Africa have more to do with the hugely corrupt national governments, not the EU Africa does better then most when it comes to diamonds, raw materials and fruit - it’s more about where the money goes. Have you visited the NHS or a university recently? Most doctors, nurses and a good proportion of students are from overseas. I don’t deny the EU needed reforming, I’m just disappointed we’ll not get the chance to play a part in that. The fact is people voted selfishly, do you really think the world will prosper if every country reverts to only concerning about its self-interest...
Noobie, I apologise for not being clearer - my mistake. I knew the future student debt would not be incurred. Its the other point you made " "look at retro re-embursment" that again when asked, came out with, we only said "we would look at it". I have never seen or read a direct quote regarding that at all. I don't suppose you could provide the link to you claim could you - it would clear it up once and for all. You still made no comment about the balancing books or immigration, schools, NHS waiting times Triple lock et al. Are these not important?
