Cosmo Connected Helmet Brake Light

  1. Met one of the directors at the NEC this year and saw the working product in the flesh on his helmet. Very compact and light, easy to remove both intentionally or in an accident (and is very securely attached to the helmet using a powerful magnetic mount) and it seemingly offers a lot more features than "Brake Free" which is still in the crowd funding stage after months of stagnation. It's also not that expensive at just under £100.

  2. When many don’t even pay £100 for a helmet, it’s a bit top end niche.
What is it they are crowdfunding? Sure,y if the product is marketable in price and proposition, they’d find backers to support.

Note: I have an irrational scepticism towards all crowdfunding. They scream scam to me. Nothing against this business, just declaring where I come from on it :)

  3. I learnt the hard way with Skully about crowd funding. Just to be clear the Cosmo unit is already in production and currently available to buy. The company is no longer crowd funded and is self sustaining. They also had some fairly big players backing them during development and have some new designs on the drawing board for skiers and cyclists as well. "Brake Free" on the other hand is still a product in the crowd funding stage and is likely to struggle, now that Cosmo have stolen the march and made it into production. Also their price point is much higher than Cosmo's. Whilst there will always be a market for cheap sub £100 helmets, most people who are investing in better safety and protection, will have probably spent considerably more on a decent lid, so enhancing their protection even further, is not likely to be something they baulk at and it can be transferred across to a new helmet when required.
