Last Sunday I took her out on a nice long ride and for some reason the bike became a whole lot louder midway. Today I took her to my mech and this is what we saw...
Looks like the pipes has snapped away. Got a feeling this is fairly common on panigales due to the heat..
yeah - just popped out of position. take the springs off, relocate, springs back on and awy you go. I tend to find getting the springs back on to be a bit of a faff, but after a few curses, etc it gets there.
I have no intention of doing this myself, left it at the mech for some work, so I’ll just let him take care of it. It’s in pretty good company too, with an R1M and an S1000RR among others. P.s. he works in a really shabby looking place, but he’s definitely a genius. P.p.s No, he’s not the same guy who messed up my coolant job...
Wheelies? Speed bumps...its just popped the sleeve out of one section. As Cream-revenge has noticed, who's not bothered shrink-wrapping that lead. No doubt used for an exhaust sensor..
Pretty hard to pop that out (or back in). I know from bitter experience having changed a 1299 and 2 959 exhausts. The top piece (rear header) is bolted securely to the head and barely moves at this end. The connecting piece it has popped out of is held by the front header, but also because it is bolted onto the under belly section. Either the bolts have come out of the rear of the under belly section, or the rear header isn’t attached to the head any more.... or it was never properly seated.
Good question, the first mech I gave my bike to, yeah the same one who messed up my coolant change, decided he didn’t want to wire in the brake switch from the new rear sets as it was too much of a hassle. I’ll be getting it sorted out soon.
No wheelies, but probably a nasty speed bump. They make them all wrong here, so the vehicle has a tendency to really drop on the way down, causing said vehicle to bottom out on the speed bump.
The two rear ones (one either side) are hidd n in behind the rearsets. You should be able to see if they are there though. (2) in the diagram below: Also in this pic you can see the little nut at the front of the under belly silencer that gives it to a little frame. Check it is still bolted there, but my guess would be the rear ones
Sorry to say but I believe Advikaz is correct and the pipe has fatigue cracked through 360 degrees of the pipe, someone had the same and posted on here recently. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1198-missed-gear-help.55719/page-2
