Sorry if its a stupid question but where is the spring clamp on the right side.. I can't believe a bump made that pop out or a lose exhaust caused it...unless its missing one side. I race 450 quad bikes and the exhausts are held in with spring clamps.. we encounter the odd bump and jump.. lol and never had an exhaust pop out.. Id be checking to ensure you havent lost a clamp, could explain why its now seated strangely.. if the other spring was in situ sheer force alone would have popped it back in.. theres no way it would sit like that, those springs have so much tension. The problem boiled down to the exhaust mounting bolts, which seemed to have come lose. This caused the exhaust to be not mounted properly and a bad hit on a speed bump has caused it to dislocate. There doesn't seem to be any evidence of cracking on the exhaust at this time. The mech has managed to pop it back into place, but he will need to take apart a few things to replace the exhaust mounting bolts, primarily the rear sets.
Sounds like good news. He only has to take off the gear side rearset (in fact, only loosen enough that you can get to the bolt with the bottom rearset bolt out, if memory serves). The brake side one can stay in place.
You're not alone btw. In teh last 3 years, I have bought a 675 triumph that blew its motor first time out and had nothing but hassle trying to fix, now its in bits being broken 2yrs later...a multi that hashed a few issues (owner and manufacturer caused) and a gsxr 750 that first time on track got destroyed when I got caught up in someone else accident. Thinking and enough of them tbh.
Where is that picture from Jolley? Do you have the 3D model?? Or just an extract from a service manual? Would be cool to have a 3D model!
