hi there< I have a Austin racing end can on my 959 and I love it other than it being solo quiet due to the massive catalytic converter killing the sound so much! I have done some research and I found a decat pipe made by termigonini but these cost over 350 pound. I want to keep my Austin racing can so I don't want to change over to the 1299 under slung exhausts really but I do want to make it louder - has anyone tried cutting open the cat and gutting it to make it louder? I don't know what else I can do without spending out a fortune to make the bike louder? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I think they are pretty quiet I have a racefit on my zx6r and that has the cat drilled out - now that was loud - the Ducati seems a bit quiet when going
It might be to you whilst you are riding and have other noises like wind noise to contend with, but my riding buddies tell me different when they are behind me.
I think im always going to compare it to older Ducati's ive had - I had a ducati 748 which was really loud and the grumble was amazing

1299 is still the best/cheapest option. I have just bought my 3rd 1299 exhaust (well, one was a US 959). You can generally get the exhaust and a set of lower fairings for less than £700 all in (my latest was £500 for both)... that is about the same as an after market end can. Sound wise, my 959 went from 98dB to just over 103dB.... and sounded much much better.
the thing is with the 1299 conversion is you still end up with standard cans for a 1299 and therefore you then need to pay on top of that for some race cans
Why do you need race cans?!.... the standard ones flow well enough for the 1299 to kick out 200bhp and 108dB.... what more do you need? I think the word you were looking for is you want race cans... your bike certainly doesn’t need them.
You right it is a case of want! LOL but like i tell my Mrs - I NEED them!!!!!! I prefer the look and sound of after market cans
Akra under belly stuff is starting to come into circulation on eBay now. The going rate is £1,200 (a lot better than the £2,700 or whatever they are!). Add some second hand belly panels for £250ish and I think you have the perfect solution. Personally, I stick with the standard 1299 cans because it allows me to bypass the static noise testing at trackdays that the Akras won’t.
