1200 Really Tempted To Make The Switch,1199 Pani To A 1200s

  1. I currently have a lightweight 999 build with a multistrada 1200 engine in it. It kicks the shit out of 1199 Panigales at the track - all day long.

  2. Pictures man, pictures!

  3. Said it before an I'll say it again...lad logic I know. Just get another bike.....I disagree with people saying "I don't do enough miles and couldn't justify it sitting in the garage".... This is how it always plays out....

    1. Posts on forum thinking about a change....
    2. Everyone rightly gets their oar in with valid reasons which are all good and well meaning....
    3. Said poster goes to the local bike shop....sees what he wants either roll up owned by someone else or in the showroom.
    4. Seed is planted, price in the head is agreed with the conscious/rational part of the brain.
    5. As time goes on the price is eroded, and the desperation to rid yourself of the albatross that you own becomes more apparent.
    6. Crunch point. Old bike is sold for less than you wanted. New bike is acquired for probably more than you wanted to pay...
    7. Your happy for (usually a couple of years or less) and do the whole thing again each time shelling out 2-3k.

I used to do that but now don't....got 4 bikes (need to sell one but in no hurry). The last one I bought was 2 years ago....no plans to get rid of it the one before 3 years ago (no plans to sell that) and the first one 6 years ago (the least used) but because of that its all the more occasion when I do.

The lad logic is they're they 3 different types of bikes I love so if I were to go to the local. Bike shop and see say a 1290sdr (love em) I think " well, I've got my z1000 and its near enough so there's no point in changing plus I've got my zed exactly how I want it and for me its perfect. Lad logic:
    1. Choice of bikes.
    2. If one is off the road there's no pressure to "get it back on the road asap" meaning you can carry out maintenance in a timely fashion. My rsv4 needed a valve check so I stripped it down, booked it in at the local bike shop they took two weeks to do the job (they were busy) and I got the job done for half the price.
    3. Use the bike for the job at hand ie I went to the ducati forum BBQ earlier this year....went on the zed as its perfect for crunching miles. Got to the TT - take the rsv4 you get the idea...
    4. As I've said....riding any of them for a length of time makes riding the other "more of an occasion"
    5. If you buy another bike you won't be stuck in a chain so you'll have no pressure and be able, very probably to command a better buying price.

No. I'm not rich (stuck 2 of them on the mortgage slush account) work between 40 and 60 hours a week but totally happy with what I've got...my mind set hasn't changed for the last 6 years and I can't see it changing any time soon...

I know some/a lot will disagree but for me it works.

  4. Went from an 899 to a DVTs as @El Toro has already said, there’s nothing quite like the looks of a Pani and the attention they get out and about, love my dvt and very close to getting a1260. Taken the multi on a couple of track days and toured a bit with the missus, I’ve got a scrambler cafe racer for when I out on me Tod.
The dvt isa do anything type of bike but without the stunning looks of a Pani :)
