  7. Girlfriend’s parents left yesterday after 4 days, and her brother and giant American fiancé arrived today. I hate people, so this is somewhat trying on the patience.

  10. Me and the wife were walking in Huyton today - "I'm sorry for your loss," I said to the guy taking flowers into the Funeral Home.

"Thanks mate," he replied, "But I'm just delivering for "Interflora"

"I know," I said "Some kid has just stolen your delivery van."

  12. Once a year.......and always 3-4 weeks after my flu jab. And considering they jab you with flu it's not surprising.

  13. They jab you with inactivated flu (unless you had the nasal spray which is a live attenuated vaccine). Quite a lot of evidence that the vaccine works less well in older people though........;)

  15. Today, I was up at 5am and headed to Colchester for the day to see Mrs M's grandma... Roads were shitty all the way down and full of absolutely terrible drivers. Still, we made it in not too bad time considering and had a nice carvery mid afternoon.

Back home relaxing with a coffee and the dogs now. Good day all round :)

  17. I read that as you’d bought one for your 12 year old

    Enjoy they are brill :)

  18. I get the jab every year, and I'm usually fine afterwards. It has laid me low once after the jab though, but I never get colds these days, never had one in 10 years.

I believe it works by fooling your body into believing you have flu, so that you produce antibodies to protect against actually getting the virus. :upyeah:

  19. I've been told by the pharmacists that have given me the jab over the past few years that it takes 3-4 weeks to work. I seem to get man flu within that time frame, and then I'm fine. I might get the odd cold during the year but it's just that........a 24 hour virus/cold.

  20. I get a letter from my GP when I'm due, which is usually late Sept / early Oct, before flu season. Maybe you are getting it a little late Tel.
