1200 Pikes Peak Will Not Fire Up At Start Button

  1. Yes
    Yes
Thats correct i dont hear nothing other than the fuel prime itself... I have change the side stand sensor even by pass it with a paperclip and no change...

  2. Are you telling me that the fuel runs when you press the starter button or only at switch on?
Normally the pump runs at switch on for a few seconds then only when the engine is turning, but the MTS may run the pump while the starter button is pressed. I can't be sure of that. Can you clarify what is happening with the pump?
What I'm getting at is, if the pump runs while the button is pressed (assuming it is meant to) then the button must be making contact.

  3. Switch ignition on (dark red flicker) and the fuel pump primes for a few second like you said, just like my other bike does... its just the black circled button under the ignition flicker switch is where it stops...

  4. Definitely sounds like a dead battery.

  5. How does a battery show full on the test button and the trickle charger shows charging to full charge

  6. Charged indications mean nothing. If your battery is dead or dying it simply won't hold up to the load placed across it when you thumb the starter. There may well be enough to prime the fuel system but not enough to turn over the engine. Have you tried jump starting it? Another area to check is for corrosion on the starter solenoid connections. Always a good idea to buy some dielectric grease and cover the terminals of both battery and solenoid to prevent future problems.

  7. Nathan, I don't think the battery is at fault. It would show up as a fault on the dash and/or the dash itself would reset when you pressed the starter and the solenoid should at least click.
My money is on the button itself but you should do the tests at the solenoid that I suggested

  12. @Ben Mallinson why the nuke on this post?

  13. Have you stripped the switch yet? Those rocker switches are notoriously poor for contact after a winter of salt.

  14. IME a dead battery will still give a click on the solonoid especially if it’s charged but crap ie shows high volts but amps (??) not enough to get it rocking

  15. :expressionless:Ive posted twice already:expressionless: Its abit hard to do when ones at work... Using the internet is a perk of the job, along the work done the upper managment leave us alone...

This is the first winter with this bike, plus going out is when the roads are partial to fully dry...

  16. Apologies I saw you said you were having a look at the weekend but as you kept posting, thought you may have had an earlier look. I had one replaced and also used to strip and lubricate mine every few months

  20. I had the same problem with my 2017 multistrada
The dealer replaced the antenna twice and eventually they cut a new key and it seems that done the job
