How old is the baby? In my previous flat, my next door neighbour's baby cried a lot and she seemingly let her. I called child services or whatever they are, and it turned out that her health visitor had recommended she let the baby cry, instead of attending to it, as apparently this way the baby will learn that mummy will not always come if she (the baby) cries. Yup, because babies of a few months really have those reasoning powers. The council also said there's absolutely nothing you can do about a neighbour's crying baby, as 'babies cry'. If it were a dog constantly barking, you could, but a baby, there's nothing that the parent is required to do.
Yup .... That's what I got told at first .. The child is 2 and a half !!! So if any health visitor gives me that old crap... That is the advise they give out for young babies .. In theory this should work with in 2 weeks. Its pretty crap advise .. It's not a baby now so if they dare tell me that one again the reply will be I gave the benefit of the doubt about this advise however 2 years have passed ..., Leaving a child to shout for its mum for well over 30 mins when in the same room is not acceptable , nor is not fitting a bed gaurd or something so child does not fall out of the bed hurt itself then scream place down. Even the grandmother came round and said I'm sorry about my daughter!!! She thought her own daughter was being unreasonable as well ! hmm maybe I should turn my bedroom into a playroom ??? Tell my kids to make what ever noise they like .. Then say to her " sorry love but their kids what can I do " But yup that was was I was told as well. however ... I've done that game so they can't pull that one on me now it's a " child". Did you just move in the end?
Yup, but only because I bought something. In my current place we all keep apologising to our neighbours, thinking we're loud, when we're not.
Hopefully I can again one day ... with a bedroom not on a detached wall !! Last night it was quiet ... But good idea why ...
If it stays quiet, you've won. There's no point getting stressed about it, if someone's giving you a hard time you have to do something about it. It's not down to you to alter your house at your expense to accommodate the neighbours, it's down to them to mend their ways. Hope it all settles down for you.
