  4. Lesson to oneself. Read the entire thread :biggrin:

  5. Just had another watch. It's a really well made film, the details on the soundtrack had me in kinks, The Odd Couple for the two telecomms engineers, brilliant. J'taime for their longing looks at the handmade bike LOL.

Have to say the work from billet on ancient lathes and milling machines makes you think why the factory boys can't do better.

Best TV prog of Christmas/New Year.

  10. not at all Dom - that's the lovely thing about this Forum, no massive egos to have to tread carefully around - last post was just me having light hearted fun - your title was far more direct and to the point and that's going to win out every time . It cheered us all up didn't it? an amazing programme and can't wait for the final installment.

  11. Glad you all enjoyed it.

You can catch up with the Team Page gang on Facebook here... Some cool pics of the bike at Bonneville. You'll recognise the Duc wheels and front-end:

  14. Speed, outright, flat on the tank, full chat, 4 valver, or 2 for that matter, 1000cc capacity - I like this game

btw, the triumph's cracking but why no clip-ons? Drag and all that ....

  15. Thoroughly enjoyed that, first class television, looking forward to next weeks program.

I was surprised they only got 42 bhp from the Bonny, that needs more investigation as the standard 120 put about about 46 iirc.

Some beautiful engineering going on there, that turned from solid billet crankshaft looked a work of art and must of taken hundreds of hours of machining.

Such a shame that British engineering went downhill in the 70's, I remember when I was doing my apprenticeship in the early 70's, that a toolmaker, with more than 40 years experience was barely earning the same as some 18 year old school leaver in an insurance company -criminal really!

This is the sort of program that should be show in schools to get youngsters enthusiastic about engineering, and to show them what sort of things are possible when you have a dream.
