Can someone tell me why did Ducati produce more 916 sps models after their limited run came to an end? Also does the lack of numbered plaque make them less valuable? Or does it de value those that are numbered? Thanks
There are some on here who will know loads as they buy/sell @tom.i @Mr.R Seem to know their stuff. Think the SP were different When I was looking there were people passing S off as SPS
I don't have a plaque for my SPS but Ducati Italy have confirmed it is one and that it is no1. It was sold to Des Walker new and he stated to me that he never got a plaque.
Yes i remember when your bike was up for sale and spotted no plaque, very nice, me a bit late on this!
Plaques or Yokes? The lack of a numbered yoke would make me walk away and is more than likely not an SPS or a pre production bike. The lack of a plaque is a different matter. You are relying on it being passed over by the original owner if it exists. I know @Exige has a load of 999 plaques that never went with bikes. My Desmo for example never came with a plaque, but because I bought it 2nd hand, I'm not sure if it was supplied with one. I wrote to the original owner, but he never got back to me, so I'm not 100% sure as I got absolutely everything for the bike, It's strange it wasn't there. My friend bought a Desmo new, registered to him from the off and never got a plaque. I have seen pics of them with bikes for sale. I guess it's hit & miss.
Didn’t only foggy bikes get a plaque? The thread is about a numbered yoke, isn’t it? I’d still not buy one without the yoke plate, even with a supporting letter from Ducati unless it was priced as a 996s
Yes i was talking about the top yoke number when i spotted the bike up for sale, it put me off straight away but he has the letter from ducati confirming number one,What a find!
Yep, there would always be a story if the yoke wasn't numbered. It would bug me and I couldn't be arsed to explain it all the time. Have you ever seen Ron White explaining about his "dead tree"?
They weren't a limited edition though, were they? Is the 996R supposed to have a numbered yoke? Edit, well it would seem some did have numbers.
In which case if the rest stacked up, original handbook, V5,possibly a check with DUK it wouldn’t be a blocker. The mad prices they sell for these days may be tho
