why do we have to watch hours of mediorce bland tv before this comes on at night? excellent television but shame it didn't feature Patrick Deli and his supercharged sidevalve harley
Just had another watch. It's a really well made film, the details on the soundtrack had me in kinks, The Odd Couple for the two telecomms engineers, brilliant. J'taime for their longing looks at the handmade bike LOL. Have to say the work from billet on ancient lathes and milling machines makes you think why the factory boys can't do better. Best TV prog of Christmas/New Year.
I have a copy on HD DVD if anyone wants a purchase, these will play on an Xbox360 with the HD Player. This is not a BluRay Disc.
+1 on movie, Burt Munro book is worth the effort too. I'd better qualify this, can't remember what I paid for the book but it was no where near these prices http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0143019740/?tag=ducatiforum-21
and here :- http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f18/speed-dreams-fastest-place-earth-bbc2-10-p-m-7314/ an hour and a half before this thread (lol x2 ) (dom's title far more catchy)
Yeah - sorry Chris. I was in a rush to post before settling down with my beer  so didn't notice you'd already started a thread about it!
not at all Dom - that's the lovely thing about this Forum, no massive egos to have to tread carefully around - last post was just me having light hearted fun - your title was far more direct and to the point and that's going to win out every time . It cheered us all up didn't it? an amazing programme and can't wait for the final installment.
Glad you all enjoyed it. You can catch up with the Team Page gang on Facebook here... Some cool pics of the bike at Bonneville. You'll recognise the Duc wheels and front-end: cheers, Dom
Speed, outright, flat on the tank, full chat, 4 valver, or 2 for that matter, 1000cc capacity - I like this game  btw, the triumph's cracking but why no clip-ons? Drag and all that ....
Thoroughly enjoyed that, first class television, looking forward to next weeks program. I was surprised they only got 42 bhp from the Bonny, that needs more investigation as the standard 120 put about about 46 iirc. Some beautiful engineering going on there, that turned from solid billet crankshaft looked a work of art and must of taken hundreds of hours of machining. Such a shame that British engineering went downhill in the 70's, I remember when I was doing my apprenticeship in the early 70's, that a toolmaker, with more than 40 years experience was barely earning the same as some 18 year old school leaver in an insurance company -criminal really! This is the sort of program that should be show in schools to get youngsters enthusiastic about engineering, and to show them what sort of things are possible when you have a dream.
1 Good programme but would not like to live next door to them:smile: 2 A good wash wouldnt have hurt a few of them either 3 met police doormat, o how funny
