  1. I have been watching the MotoGP races on BTSport for a few years now.

Just heard the BT are increasing their package prices yet again so considering leaving BT-possibly going to Plusnet ( exactly the same service as BT in fact customer service apparently better and a huge saving to be made!)-see here:

And then going with buying a MotoGP videopass for £177.90

Anyone considering the same sort of move?
How happy are you with using the MotoGP.com videopass?

  2. I’m considering exactly the same. I’ve just left BT for Sky and could add the BT package to sky but that’s £20 activation and then £32.49 a month on a 12 month contract. They do a rolling 1 month for £35 activation and £25.99 a month.

MotoGP.com certainly works out cheaper. I’ll be airplaying it to the TV. Only downside I can see is the inability to set it to record. You’ll have to login to the website to view the video and they’ll have the results plastered everywhere

  3. Looking into it at the moment John as line saveut all tuhe r with BT needs renewing soon. Will contact BT first to see what they can offer before switching. The problem I find is trying to work what packages are what.

  5. We got irritated by the constant corrupted saved races on BT and went MotoGP subscription a couple years back. It's been faultless and will renew again for this year.

  6. It has spoiler mode just like the forum lol, only problem I found is they auto renew off season action and it's just not worth it closed season, from memory it was £36 extra .

  7. @JH_1986 Thanks for the heads up on the inability to set it to record, I hadn't realized that.
So do you have to watch it live, or can you log in at watch it at your convenience

  8. @mervyn

I have found the best way to get the best deal with BT is to call them inquiring about the cost of the package, listen and write down all the details and then inform them that you are not happy with that and that you want to leave. They will then, in a last ditch attempt to keep your custom, pass you to another person who has the power to offer you a cheaper deal. Don't accept their first offer, it's handy to have a figure in mind that you would find acceptable and let them know what that is, you can save a little by paying your line rental up front for a year too.

  9. No ability to set it to record as it's internet based only. My understanding is that you can login and watch anything you like at any time (obviously after the event and not before... it can't bend time).

  10. I have had zero issues with watching all the racing via the BTsport platform, it's been faultless, and I like that I can record it all and I sometimes watch a recording of a race several times.
Overall I think it's well worth paying the price , the cameramen/women do an outstanding job and the coverage and the racing seems to get better each year.

  11. All races and videos including every historical one is always available on MotoGP.com. It is extremely difficult to not see the results though, I'm constantly accidently going to the main screen instead of the 'no spoiler' screen.

  12. You can pay in instalments and cancel if you don't like it, I did half a season pass last year as I was out go the country for a couple of races and did not want to miss them, imho I was not overly keen on the commentators but that was probably because I am so use to bt sport, thinking out loud could you not watch it on MotoGP.com via a app on a smart tv ?

  13. We often watch it via the browser on our TV if thats what you mean? I regularly watch it on my laptop tethered to my phone for internet connection as well, it doesn't need that good a connection to be high quality.

  14. Some smart TV’s allow casting from an app, but it’s a bit niche and every brand of TV does it differently so handset programmers don’t bother integrating. Best to stick to mainstream options such as Chromecast or AppleTV.

I often think the world could produce some amazing technology if they unified their focus rather than having competing products that each achieve mediocrity. Hate buying into a tech and then being told that it won’t work with so and so because they’ve signed a deal with a competitor.

  15. Open source vs proprietary argument. In theory I love open source as it has the potential to achieve what you describe but in practice I spend my money on Apple since I have a guaranteed supported standard.

  16. Apple man myself but my views are getting more and more open source. I buy into one method of home automation and then something amazing comes out but doesn’t bloody integrate as they went with the other home automation company. So infuriating. We could have an amazing world if we focused right.

Anyway, rant over and back on topic.

Can anyone see the option for a monthly video pass on MGP site? I only get the full and painful season pass.

  17. Got fed up with BT suddenly introducing a £5 a month surcharge for BT Sport to their existing broadband customers. That and a £3 a month Eurosport Player pass came to £96 a year. Time came to look at an alternative. Never had and never will subscribe to Sky ("Believe in Better"...my arse. Believe in ripping you off for a sub-standard pile of crap, is more accurate). Anyway I cannot bear the thought of giving any money to that odious little tw*t Murdoch. He offends me almost as much as Maxwell did. Spent £40 on an Amazon Firestick and £48/year on a VPN subscription along with some well known software. There are few if any 1080P/HD/4K channels/films/boxsets/national & international live feeds, I can't now watch. Not exactly kosher but with the disappearance of most sports on terrestrial channels and other productions becoming streaming based, I'm not going to be backed into a corner to pay a bloated subscription fee, when for the most part, many of the channels bear little if any interest to me, comprising off a plethora of football channels, and mainstream for the masses sports, outdated films or the inevitable, tedious, inane and banal reality shows and american canned laughter sitcoms, which the States pumps out like sausages along with their infantile humour. I do however subscribe to Amazon Prime (purely for the price deals and enhanced delivery options) but their program content is accessible elsewhere anyway, if you know where to find it, so not necessairly a mandatory option for everyone.

  18. I struggle with decent motoGP streams. I’m with you on the rest though. Raspberry Pi behind every TV in our house :upyeah:

  19. I pay £5 per month to EE to access on my phone. Can’t stream it unfortunately (app blocked from mirroring) nor use any log in from other sources like laptop or tablet but works well enough to watch, especially as I’m normally out. And I can watch full race etc on catch up and stream to large tv then.
