  1. Superb write up. Well done. You should be a journalist. :upyeah::p

  2. Glad to see a bike used. In the case of my monster after it reached 99999 miles it reset back to zero and every tenth of a mile thereafter it shows the correct mileage with the leading 1. As I approach 200k dont know what will happen as the display only has a leading 1. In the case if my 1098s tricolore as I approach 99999 it doesn’t have a leading 1 so I suppose it will also stop like your 1200. Think I’ll just leave it there.

  3. The upper most color trim that then wraps to the speedo on each side? It has driven my CDO nuts (that's OCD but in alphabetical order like it should be). The gap between the speedo assembly on the right is wider than the left, and now the screw has fallen out on the right side so it flaps in the wind a bit.

A small price to pay for Italian engineering :D

  4. Yep and as you look at the front it’s slightly larger gap left than right. Doesn’t make any real difference but once you know, you know, right?!

  5. Happy new year to you ,from Serbia, we travelled together ...

  6. So with yours, if you're sitting on the bike the gap is bigger on the left side? Hmm, mine is bigger on the right side. I suppose on average it is perfect :D

  7. No, sitting on the bike its the RHS

At least we know its normal LOL

  8. Thanks FB. The black engine paint has held up pretty well. There is a spot on the front of the clutch casing which is starting to separate. As my boot has worn through the finish at the back I am thinking of just replacing the casing with a new one. They aren't that expensive. I do a deep clean ( tank off) after each adventure and polish between tours but only basic soap and hose wash on tour.
I refresh the PTFE chain lube every 1000km or so which is normally every two days or so on tour. It's a big can and lasts for a whole tour. I carry it (along with WD40 etc) in a box of "oily tools" which sits in the space behind the pannier on the left where the exhaust isn't. I made mine from a Games Workshop plastic case in a home made aluminium bracket attached to the inside of the SW Motech pannier rails though I notice that Touratech started offering a similar product last year. Between tours I wash the chain off with white spirit and a paint brush followed by Muc-off chain cleaner and then start again.

  9. Happy new year to you! Great to hear from you! We certainly did ride together, Sardinia, Corsica and Belgrade. I'd love to ride with you again this year.

  10. I must have a trip to the Picos National Park, thanks for the tip. I remember I disabled my exhaust butterfly a few weeks after buying the bike in 2010 and it made my engine respond better too. At 15k yours isn't run in yet. Honest, the gearbox in particular goes on getting better. :)

  11. Thanks for this. Very encouraging! My 2010 is at about 35K miles after a slow touring year in 2017 (rented bikes in the US for California tour). I just can’t see myself selling it as the new ones just aren’t 12 thousand quid better! (assuming 6K trade-in) Def might have to try that Ohlins semi-active ECU though!

  12. You won't regret it. Best £250 I ever spent on mine.

  13. Great report and my favourite post on the Multistrada!

I found the same as you with the tyres after some issues in Spain with the PR4 wearing strangely on the front. Presently using Angel GT's that work well but still probably prefer the PR3's. My 2010 MTS is rather underused due to offroad trips on other bikes most years and is still short of 30k miles but very reassuring to know that yours is still performing so well. I am on my 2nd Suono by the way. I have spent time on other Multis but like you see no reason to make the change to a new one which has perhaps become a bit softer compared to the original. Look forward to hearing your next update.

  14. great post , I met you and your wife in the ferry queue at Portsmouth , going to Jerez last year.
Was on my MT10SP at the time , was amazed at the bikes mileage then !!!
Glad to see it's still going ;)

  15. Thanks fatbob99. I remember our chat, I hope you had a good tour too! How comfy was the MT?

  16. ok thanks, that's good to know as I've suffered quite a few false neutrals over those 15K miles but come to think of it they are not so frequent now...unless I'm not positive enough with the selection..! :bucktooth:
