I personally use Motul (as you should know if you pay attention in my garage), however, the sticker on the engine of my 1098 (and I assume 848) says Shell
Maybe there should be a sticky thread somewhere with a list of questions the "newbees" shouldnt ask for fear of getting insulted or some forum rules about only people who have had ducatis since before 1996 should be on this forum or heaven forbid ask a question. Oh and you forgot "suspension settings-whats best?" in your list !!
Maybe a forum about ducati's isn't the right place to give people shit and be a cock if you don't like what people ask ?
I've never worried too much, either in cars or bikes, as long as its of a compatible grade as recommend in the hand book it will be fine. I've done decent mileage in a variety of vehicles and never had any wear issues. Proper warm up and regular oil changes are far more important. Shell, motul, silkoline et al will all be fine. I'd guess a 10/40. I'd also guess semi synthetic, but I'd want to check the handbook.
Umbra, why don't you go f@*k yourself. unfortunately, society being the way it is, we can't all be like you and know everything, about everything. It must be hard for a person so gifted like you living amongst us mere mortals. biggoted twats like you are a sure reason to give Ducati owners the stigma of being stuck-up, pretentious pricks. Rich is new to the forum and new to Ducatis so give the guy a break and keep your smart arsed useless comments to yourself. rant over!:frown:
6/10 Stuff changes to over time to - or we'd all have Dunlop's and paper tax disks still Oh hold on , , ,
Rightho.... I use the shell stuff as on the engine sticker. Matt is right, if you cal MR they will recommend Motul...Why? Who knows... I suspect it may be a reciprocal sponsorship deal. Peace and love...
Hmmm, maybe you're right about the sticky, my apologies for forgetting suspension set-up (must try harder) and a another late entry would be chain lube as well. Personally I think all people who haven't had a Ducati since '93 should be shot. That way they would know that the only oil you run in the four valver (the ones with the flaky rocker issues at least) is MOTUL 15-50w. This doesn't necessarily translate over to the OP's original post about which oil is best in his 848. I personally like Motul as mentioned harmlessly enough in a previous post, 10-40w fully synthetic would be my choice in that machine. Shell stuff is ok tho. In the OP's instance. Don't get me started on flaky rockers
1/10 from me, but plenty of passion. Hope you get over your man period very soon I'd have thought those who need you to defend them would have appointed someone slightly more able to express his feelings when they picked you as their spokesman :frown: Keep up the good work won't you Anyway, I'm off, you won't miss me I'm sure, so enjoy your time on here wallowing in ignorance and hope you feel better soon
You're right, I won't miss you. Just like I don't miss the shit that I flushed down the toilet this morning.
