1299 1299 S Oil Leak

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Panigaledave, Jan 9, 2018.

  1. Any body had an oil leak on their 1299 s? Appears to be from right hand engine casing in the circled part of the picture.

First noticed after getting fairly hot and dripping onto right hand exhaust.

  2. Not on a Pani, but on another Ducati. Dealer took the casing off to reseal it and found a distinct lack of sealant on the mating faces (Ducati don't use gaskets here)

It could also be the sight glass btw.

  3. Thanks for reply, I'm hoping it's the same - lack of sealant. Doesn't appear to be the window, just wet around the 'seal'.

Going to Ducati Friday so will update when they've looked.

  4. It was on my Desmo. The dealer found an oil leak in the belly pan and on the exhaust, but it had been blown all over the place. After cleaning the bike off, he ran it up to temperature and found the smallest weep on the RHS casing. When removed you could see areas where there was almost no sealant (arrowed for Hexie :)) and the area of the leak circled (although he had cleaned the sealant from the area by the time I took the pic.

  5. Check you are not over full with oil as well. If you are above the upper mark and go fairly hard the Pani will push oil through the seals. It's better to stay around the half way mark or just below.

  8. You may even want that stamp... it saved me a £10k bill for a siezed crank on my out of warranty 1299S. Ducati UK are good with helping even out of warranty, but service history is the first thing they check.
