Wish I could, but sadly not. If the rest of you want to go on the Friday I don't mind following early on the Sat morning economy ferry and riding long and hard on day 1 in Spain to catch you up from Santander: Portsmouth to Santander Depart Sat 14th 08:45 Arrive Sun 15th 14:15 BAIE DE SEINE economy ferry
Just thought it would save you coming from Taunton early AM, rather make your way down lunchtime ish Friday ?? Guessing you are working Friday then ??
Any last takers ?? boats and hotels starting to get booked now. Depart Friday 13th April, return Sunday 22nd.
I can't do Friday 13th as I'm working in London, or Sunday 22nd as I need to be back working in London on the Monday morning ... Is it going to work if I get these Ferries?
Sweet - I've booked my tickets. Sadly I will have to do a very early start from home on the Saturday morning, or maybe I'll ride down to Portsmouth Friday night when I get home from work and stay in a hotel. I've done both before. Next thing is to decide what bike to take - what will you guys be riding?
Nice one dude, that's 3 of us booked then At least you don't have a 4+ hour journey to and from Portsmouth I didn't realise what time we get back Sunday. I gotta drive home, sleep, then drop the van off the following day, I'm meant to be at work for 07:00 I'll be on my 899.
Christ knows. Have you guys ridden together before? Are you well matched pace-wise? If you are both speed demons then it'll have to be a sports bike but the only one I have on the road at the moment is my Baines Imola and that isn't at all suitable. If it's going to be an average pace then the comfort and luggage capacity of my Africa Twin may swing it - either that or I blag, borrow or steal a Multi from somewhere ;-)
Not ridden together. I wouldn't describe myself as a fast rider. Average pace would suit me tbh. I can hold my own when needed.
We ain't there to race mate, and if we do get a lick on for a few miles, then we can just meet further up the road.
Evening fella's, when you looking at hotels, you doing them thru booking.com etc so cancellation up to a few weeks before or booking and paying asap? Only reason im asking is I've just paid my Tax bill and I've had to pay £4K as a payment on account(money towards next year tax bill) as you can't tell them to fuck off anymore so they earn all the interest in there bank account instead of mine(this is the money I use for my holidays early in the year) Just looking at finances as have skiing in 3 weeks. Ill book the ferry as only £40 and balance at end of Feb which is fine but if hotel money needed in next few weeks then cash flow could be a issue as rest of money is tied up Let me know. Stu. P.S @Andy800 I live in Manchester and will have my new long wheel based van come March so possible to pick you up on way down save us getting piss wet thru before reaching Spain. Just a thought bud
