First Trackday

  1. whilst wearing thermals is a bit much (you will get a bit of a sweat on on the bike), you will be spending most of the day outside in November, so take a big coat (or a t-shirt if you are northern). oh yes, and Mallory catering is a bit, well, traditional. If you don't like stodge and chips (beans optional), maybe take a packed lunch.

  2. Thinking of doing a novice track day at cadwell in February or March, my confidence is a bit shot so thinking this might be a way to improve it, the alternative is the road not keen on that yet, I have done 3 track days at cadwell but years ago, I remember someone saying more accidents after lunch than any other time due to food been digested blood starvation brain turns into a potato...I'm used to that bit.

  3. Eat little and often though out the day . And drink plenty of water.

  4. Cool cheers, the thought of going over the mountain making me feel sick ha...not sure if I'll do it but can't think of another way, having a stroke affected coordination and balance, but have rode pit bike and the rvf 3 times on the road and pushbike a bit including around cadwell when mate did a trackday, don't think any tuition can help it's got to come from within.

  5. Novice day sounds like a good idea. No need to worry about the mountain on a novice day, you'll just ride up it like you would a driveway on the road! I usually have a good breakfast and avoid anything carb heavy at lunch time, better just to have some meat or eggs without bread/chips or just something sweet for some energy.

  6. When I looked at a novice only day it was shared with cars. So I canceled.

  7. Just remember it's a track day not a race day, you get no prizes at the end and definitely none for ending up in the kitty litter.

  8. Not normally at the same time, alternate session. And if the mountain is daunting, is there another rack within similar distance? If you can get there, Silverstone is great as its so large and flat

  9. Why not have a hand shandy before heading out? I read somewhere once that that's what cricketers do before going out to bat and apparently it helps with nerves and brings good luck.
Don't forget to post the results!

  10. Yes but I heard storeys of dropped oil and dragging the kitty litter back on track.

And I wanted a full bike vibe.

  12. Not looked but if I can do the mountain ok can do anything but yes silverstone would be good not sure if they do February though, hope nobody buys the rvf lol

  13. Imodium, Always pack some Imodium, Those butterfly's in your stomach can mean hitting the awful track toilets more than once, It gets annoying in one piece leathers. Stay hydrated.
Prepare your other half at home, She will hear about the trackday after non-stop for at least a week.
Ride within your limits and at a speed you are comfortable with.

  14. Well if that’s what they were up to down under that would explain the ashes fiasco :)

  16. I've done a couple end of March and had good weather, try to leave booking as long as you can and just watch the forecast. IIRC one was Brands and other Bedford. Worth getting as far east as possible, may snetterton?

  17. TBH the mountain is the easy bit. Its tight, narrow, technical and quite fast. Not much margin for error. Unless you give it a fistful at the top, its likely you wont be carrying enough speed at the bottom for any issue at the top :) But its fantastic track especially on a small bike where silverstone can be a bit tough on a small bike
