V4 Possible Coolant Leaks From Weep Hole

  1. Seems as if Ducati are pre-empting any issues with potential water leaks and subsequently having to deal with disgruntled customers, by issuing the following information to dealers. I thought this was purely a trait of the V2 Panigales. Evidently not.

  2. Don’t even get me started on this water pump issue that Ducati seem to have...Ducati just need to learn how to make water pumps luckily though with a few visits to my local ducati dealer they were good enough to honour it under warranty. And so far so good....touch wood

  3. What bike was this?

  4. The xx99 series seem prone to this and the water distributor unit is also a weak point. For Ducati to come out with this information now would suggest they are expecting it to "weep" (aka leak) from the off. Hmmm, not exactly comforting on a new bike. That's not to say they'll all leak but even so, not what you want to read.

  5. When my claim was going through the service manager admitted there was a issue that was widespread across the panigale Range yet Ducati would not admit to this. I know on the 959 on the tell tale hole on the water pump they fitted a right angled adapter with a hose so the coolant would leak beneath the fairings rather than over the alternator casing. In the service managers eyes and along with the Ducati mechanics eyes there is a fault there and a water cooled engine should not be loosing coolant period...
This has been going on for so long that I dowt anything will change anytime soon on their future sports bikes...they could at least have made the coolant header tank slightly easier to access, check and top up the level if required...

  6. Hardly a big deal but I’ll talk this through with the first of our technicians to get trained at the factory last week. Andy
