Hey forum, Can you lot take a look at the photo of my engine and frame number and tell me good news, cus im thinking this is bad..
Doesn't look too out of place tbh. The last characters of each number are *'s not numbers. The engine one, looks to have a little casting perforation where it's been machined flat. I checked the frame number but it's old info and there's no engine number matched to it. Not uncommon to be fair...
I can post pics with the whole numbers of the engine and frame? I know they dont match and thats fine, i was just worried about the last digit on both engine/frame being unreadable/starred out? thanks for the info Nelly im less worried now, but im still a little!
Dont tease Exige! ive only had the bike 10 days! (from a dealer, so i expect everything to be A OK, with loads of history too)
The first thing I thought was the dots look odd, but only studied 999 onward era bike in detail in that respect - which all look neater and not as deep. Ducati maybe got a new machine as some point! If @nelly is ok with it you have no worries
OMG what a idiot i am! Ive got the warranty and maintenance booklet from new (jan 1996) and the last 6 numbers on both are the same in my pic's. Its those weird marks at the very end that worried me. Thanks so much forum.
Thanks, i can sleep fine tonight. Although my oil level inspection window is foggy and i cant see a damn thing..

As @nelly says, the last character should be a "*" (and 1st iirc, like bookends). All looks OK to me.
thank you,,looks very nice and clean condition and those DUCATI RACING stamped wheels are the only ones to have, enjoy
