Hi Guys, Thinking about splashing out on one of these and have a few questions :- Do they have a good location fixing on the bike, I think from the pics it bolts to the footpeg mounts and the two screwholes directly above the exhaust heatshield, is it a good strong fixing in your opinion? can anyone take a detailed pic of how it fastens to the bike for me?? My mate has one for his S1000rr and recons the bags themselves leak really badly, anyone else had this happen? I'm thinking in that case of just buying the rack with the smaller sportsbag mount and bungeeing a waterproof bag to it, not paying £120 for a bag that lets water in! I had thought about the Kriega system but I'm sure at some time it will end up rubbing the bodywork. Thanks in advance, Poucher
I've had the system on my own bike, GSXR and it mounted at the pillion peg bolt holes plus thetrail tidy mount. It was very secure. I also had the tall luggage rack and bungeeed my own bag to it.
Hi Poucher i have just purchased a ventura for my 1199s i have always had ventura on both my other dukes1198 and 748 great quality, easy to fit, looks good but a bit pricey! but i think worth it. The only problem i have with them most bikes are different so you cannot use L brackets and rack for bike to bike if you catch my drift?. I will be fitting mine this weekend.

@Poucher did you ever go for the Ventura system? Thinking about this for the 1299 and I’ve got the same question as you - where does it mount? Does it only mount at the pillion peg bolts or does it have additional fixings? Anyone know?
Hi Carson, I did buy the Ventura rack system ( but not the bags ) it only mounts at the foot peg fixing holes but I’ve stuck some foam rubber on the underside of the rack itself so it kind of rests on the pillion seat if the bags really heavy or you hit a substantial bump in the road, it acts as a 3rd point of contact if you like I would never use it with the red painted seat hump fitted, it would flex and damage the paint, so I take that off and fit the pillion seat . I’ve only bought the shorter sports rack as well, it’s easier for me to bungee my gear sack tailback to it, l posted a pic of it on here somewhere, I’ll try and find it and post again.
That would be great, thanks. The installation instructions state that it’s only goof for 6kg, but I guess that’s just them being cautious? I might have a go at trying to make something myself if I have time
I use on on my 1299. I fit the rack with the platform facing backwards and put the small (30 litre) bag on so that the bag sits on the pillion seat. The seat takes the weight, the rack just provides lateral stability. Yes, the bag leaks in heavy rain. I wrap everything in plastic carrier bags. It makes packing the thing easier as well. The platform is then available for a wet-suit to be strapped on.
