959 959 Questions?

  1. Here we go, time to start modding!

Couple of questions first for you knowledgeable folks, all questions refer to my 2016 959 panigale.
    1. Rear seat cowl, Is it possible to get a one piece red seat cowl? I'm not to worried about it being a dp part as long as it fits and is the correct colour.
I would consider the dp 3 part job if one came up used for a sensible price.
    2. Exhaust
I'm not a fan of the shot gun style so will be changing them for a delkevic stubby carbon end can, a bit old school looking I know but worth a shot for the price I think. I'm assuming as the cats and valve are going to be left in place this should just be a straight swap that shouldn't affect the mapping too much?

3 headlight bulbs look awful with the yellow halogen next to the led so I've ordered a pair of Phillips diamond vision h11, hope they're the right ones. Has anyone done all 4? Is it worth doing main beam lamps with them as well?

    4. I have ordered a nose cone number board decal from vulturbike and I'm quite tempted to do the upper side fairing panels too, probably looking at a superlagera style white stripe kit, has anyone fitted a full kit? how difficult was it? If you didnt fit it yourself, who did you get to do it and how much did you pay to have it done? Are you happy with the results is the film lasting well etc etc? Post up some pics of your decals fitted and where they came from.

    5. Are the reflectors on the forks just stuck on? Is it just a case of warming them up and peeling them off?
    Thanks in advance

  2. Fork reflectors just pulled off easy on mine.. left no sticky marks either

  3. The delkevic exhausts are what you'd fit to an old cb500. I'd save for a better quality exhaust if it were me but it will be a straight swap.
Lights wise I think people go just white bulbs. Looks decent or full HID.

  4. I know what you mean about the exhaust, but I can't live with the shot guns while I save up so probably give the delkevic a shot, at less than £200 if I don't like it it's not the end of the world.

  5. Answers:

    1. You can only get the 3 piece seat cowl for the 959. Nobody does an 899 single piece one because it isn’t as nice!.
    2. You’ll be fine swapping the cans for a stubby one. No need to map or anything.

3 I changed the sidelights in my last one. They match the LEDs much better, but not a lot of difference in terms of light. I personally wouldn’t bother with all 4 bulbs, but maybe someone else can answer who has.

    4. You may have issues with the corners peeling up and with bubbles doing it yourself. I would speak to a company that do wraps. The guys I use (Euro tint) added a load of white bits to two sets of fairings for less than the vulturbike kit would have cost me (and it is a spotless bubble free finish that I didn’t waste days struggling with myself). Here are a couple of the panels I collected yesterday...

    5. Don’t even have to warm them up. As others have said, they pull straight off

  6. Thanks for that, I'll have a look at euro tint, your fairing look mint.

  7. Regarding the Exhaust look out for a 1299 Exhaust and fairings, if you’re unaware they both fit fine and transform the bike to look how it should

  8. Hi, just a quick one I wouldnt change the exhaust unless you can do the Akrapovic belly cans.. they are worth every penny. When I bought mine they gave me a deal on a Tri Options kit.. as I could'nt live with the cans. Let me know how you go with the white bulbs.. I need to change mine as agree they look rubbish against the LED's..

Mine with the Akras.. tail tidy , this weekend removing the rear pegs finally!

  9. Look and sound lovely, however I went OEM because of the MSV static noise test exemption.

  10. The exhaust is already done, not everyone's cup of tea I know but I quite like it, there is no way a could or would spend the kind of money being asked for under belly silencers/lower fairing, unfortunately I missed out on the tri options deal.
I have a couple of mates with 899s and their silencers are constantly covered in burnt on chain lube, that would just do my head in.
As for the bulbs they are in and look absolutely brilliant, they match the leds really well. Would definitely recommend them. Phillips diamond vision h11 they were about £30 from Amazon.

  12. Love that

  13. It's fine, passenger might get a warm foot but the bikes appearance looks great, you'd have to put in serious effort to make that bike look bad.

  17. Bikes looking good, saw your MV advertised up for sale, it's actually quite cheap I thought. I wouldn't buy a used MV with no warranty though! how are you finding the 959 so far in comparison to the MV, really interested to hear your thoughts as you get used to it as I was thinking of testing out a new Euro4 F3 800 this spring.

  18. It is as mentioned the r+g tail tidy.

  19. Yes I saw the f3 advertised as well, I think price wise it's somewhere in the right ball park. I haven't had much time on the 959 yet but first impressions are they are pretty similar in power and handling The mv was a great bike and by all accounts the euro 4 version is better still i probably would have had another but dealers are too few and far between and some of those dealers are not very good to be honest, i used motocorsa in the end but they were 2hrs away.
