Yes it was me, I got hold of the VIN number when it was being sold by Hunts Honda, turns out it had done 20,000 km in America I think, its had loads of warranty work done, the last warranty work was the clocks being replaced then I guess it got shipped to the UK not long after that.
It's a bit naughty how they're still putting 4059 miles on thier advert title. I suppose they're hoping for the sort of buyer who buys just by looking what's in front of their nose and doesn't bother checking the paperwork. Real Arthur Daley tactics!
Its all a bit strange really, I went and looked at the bike when it was at Hunts Honda in Manchester, It was while I was up there that the results of the VIN check came through. alll the work and services done when it was abroad was done by a Ducati dealer so everything is logged against the VIN (thank god for the Ducati database) I told them about what I had found out and they were actually quite put out and very apologetic and said they would be returning the bike back from where it came. They were actually in the middle of servicing the bike they were doing the belts. The bike looked ok just a slight colour difference on the fairing suggesting a resoray at some point. A week later I saw that bike back on autotrader by Jemspeed (£9k) the advert actually stated 18,000 miles, then it disappeared and popped up on ebay the highest bid was £6,300 that I saw. Then it disappeared and reappeared on Autotrader this time with the mileage as shown on the clock 4000 odd. The mechanic at hunts honda did think it was quite a tidy bike but considering the history I personally think its a risky buy but you never know it might actually be a real gem.
