I must say I ummed and ard between a Panigale R and V4. I’ve plumbed for the V4 based on MotoGP tech (reverse crank rotation), power and electronics. Basically the latest greatest. We’ll see. Quite excited tbh...
I am very interested in one but after seeing it at the nec show bit disappointed it looks so much like my 1199s did ,& like u I wud only be using it for tracks day with the odd blast on the road, but I am concerned about it passing the noise tests at most tracks, I had so much hassle with my 1199 it takes the fun out of it wen ur wondering if ur going to get on track. I am looking forward to road testing one to see how its feels for power but I don't think it will be much different to the aprilla rsv4 I had
by going down one on the front ur lowering the top speed which is wot u need for track riding but by going down 2 teeth on the back ur making ur top speed higher again .
I think I know what you mean but Dano makes sense too. It’s a % ratio front and rear to hit the torque wave nicely.
got a test ride booked next tues with peterbough ducati hope the weather is good ,hope it lives up to my expectation if it does I will go through with my order which is do april,
tested the v4s yesterday, it felt very much like the 1199 & 1299 regarding riding position brakes & handling, I did prefer the dash on the v4 & it was very easy to change settings on the handle bar control, the quick shifter & blipper shift worked well, the engine didn't pull as hard low down revs or mid range as the 1299 does nor did it pull as hard as the 1199 at the top end ,it pulled more gentler all the way from low revs to high, which makes it easier to ride ,but I was hoping for more agresive pulling power to give me the grin factor, for track days I think u would struggle with the noise
This video has been doing the rounds. V4 having trouble with a stock blade in the mid range. To be fair blades have good mid range. But it comes back to the useable power thing that’s been mentioned in this thread (and that blade hasn’t even got a quick shifter)
Someone asked me to post some pics of the V4... finally had chance to get the camera out. 350 miles in still loving it View attachment 108177
wen I tried the V4 tues the salesman didn't put it in the mode I ask for , which I have now JUST found out, I was going to cancel my order but fortunately on fri I went to italia of lincon & after talking to one of the salesman about my test ride he suspected I must have had it in a leser power mode & let me test ride their bike in the full power mode , its was like a different bike ,so now I am going to get a V4
I’m guessing the bike in the video above was in a low power mode. No way a Blade would put up much of a fight against the 213bhp V4!
How was it in the full power mode?, I’m really curious to know what it feels like to ride, unfortunately I’ve not ridden an 1199/1299 properly to compare it to, don’t suppose you’ve ridden an RSV4 or current R1 to use as a frame of reference?, really interested to hear your thoughts either way, mines coming in just over a month.
yes I had a rsv4 great bike ,also had crossplane R1 wen they first came out & then got the next crossplane both great bikes but the engines felt very different . The power on V4 was realy good from 3000 revs rite up to 14500 wen the rev limiter cuts in, the power was delivered very smooth ,compared to my rsv4 & my first crossplane their power came in low to mid range & felt a bit more but then eased off towards the top end, but the second crossplane had very little power low down & mid range but came in with a bang top end revs. My rsv4 turned into corners very sharply compared to both R1s , & the second crossplane also shook its head which I did like on full power coming out of some corners on track days which I do a lot of, the V4 turned well & felt very stable ,I will be mainly using it on track days
There is a big difference on the new V4 between sport mode and race mode so I guess the dealer was not only trying to preserve his demo bike but also his potential customer too on the slippery January ,salt covered roads .
yes I agree but if I had not tried another demo on race mode I wud have cancelled my order, after the test ride I said I wasn't too impressed with the power u wud think he wud have said try it wen the roads r better & that race mode has much more power. I said I needed 2 days to think about going ahead with my order ,he said he wud ring me in 2 days ,but he couldn't be bothered to ring, 4days past without him contacting me so I had to ring them,
It may have meant waiting a bit longer for one but at the point they didn't ring back I would have been cancelling my order with said dealer and taking my business to John at Lincoln... If your dealer can't be arsed to offer a decent customer service whilst your spending new bike money with them, what is the after sales experience going to be like?
yes I agree I am thinking about cancelling my order & going to italia, I have had 2 bikes off them before & the only reason I went to peterbough was because they said they wud get me a bike before italia
You've obviously dealt with Italia before then so no need for me to add any more about how good they are... My concern as previously stated would be after sales care now though and I'm sure Italia will not disappoint in that department if you buy from them either. Understandably though, I'm sure you have a tough decision to make now... I know what mine would be though and it would involve voting with my feet! Good luck with what ever you decide and let us know how you get on fella. It goes without saying, we'll look forward to seeing the photos when it arrives too
Not sure why I’m asking but has anyone joined in with either of these yet ? Ducati Panigale Desmocedici Stradale V4 on Facebook and panigalev4club.com. Andy
