899 Fork Oil Change

  1. So, my Panigale is fast approaching 3yrs old, despite my Ducati ownership wobble last year I decided not to change. I know I'd have regretted it... my god it's a beautiful machine!
I've just booked in for its 3rd service and I'm being told it needs a coolant and fork oil change at £75 and £175 a pop.
I should be capable of the coolant change but have read it's difficult to remove all existing fluid, anyone familiar? I'm keen to do get it changed what with a trip to Spain in June, it will probably benefit from fresh with the hotter temperatures?
The fork oil at 3yrs old is a new one on me. The bike's only done 3800 miles so I'm reluctant to cough up almost £200... any thoughts?
Also, if anyone has any Panigale touring tips I'd love to hear them!
    Thanks in advance, Mark.

  2. It’s really easy to do the coolant fluid change just follow the workshop manual which can be found on here somewhere I used a big syringe and rubber hose to refill the radiator and header tank, my 899 is coming at five years old this year and will be getting the fork oil done at so point I was told by a ducati technician that the quality of oil is that good in forks these days not to worry about it much about especially with your low miles

  3. Coolant is an easy enough job

Get a suspension specialist to do your forks, £125 usually and they’ll probably do a better job. Not sure on your location!?

  4. 100% suspension is £125 for a fork service and £15 postage home. You obviously have to take your forks out and get them there.

  6. Thanks all. I think I'll leave the fork oil change for the time being. I'm hoping to get the suspension set up done in the future so I may as well leave it until then and get it done all in one go. I'll look for the workshop manual and pursue doing the coolant change myself.

  7. If you decide to get the suspension overhauled might be worth getting mct or similar to have a look at the shock and sort the shim/decking out thing it has going on

  8. If you can’t find it let me know and I’ll send you a copy

  9. The first change on the fork oil is the most important. The rest you might skip..
