1199 1199 To V4

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by JAM35, Feb 6, 2018.

  1. evening. Is anybody thinking or already moving from a 1199 to a V4.

I saw a V4 at the weekend and it looked good. Money aside, do fellow owners think it’s worth the change.

    Any input appreciated.

    Cheers. James.

  2. I hear it’s got twice as many cylinders.

  4. if you want one and you got suitcases full of cash just buy one and enjoy:thinkingface:

  5. It’s a no from me. At least for the moment.

For a number of reasons, I think the outgoing model is better looking. There’s bound to be teething issues with the v4. Insurance is spectacularly shite at the moment on them. There’s no deals to be had and I love a deal ;). New Beamer on its way as well.

The v4 just hasn’t done it for me. I actually turned down the offer of one for the day because I couldn’t be arsed. That’s not a good sign as I’d ride a barn gate. I’m sure I’ll ride one at some point and I’m sure it’ll be fantastic etc. Maybe it’ll be a slow grower? Who knows.

All the people I’ve spoken to who I know well and aren’t a dealer or someone who has some form of financial gain from it have said it doesn’t feel very fast even though it is. Which is my issue with a lot of heavily developed machines. I want my superbike to scare the shit out of me!

  13. Blimey. All these images of cool looking 1098 r’s on this site are making me think of back dating rather than new.

  15. Heard yesterday from yet another source that BMW are going to delay the launch of the updated S1000RR until early 2019. Andy

  16. These things only really come in to play on track. Bimbling around on the road will never scratch the surface of your 1199 never mind a 214 bhp V4.

  17. Cool, be a fleet of vicars and nuns roaming around on the v4 then, I'm sure they will observe the speed limit too

  18. Probably establishing what the competition have and then come back with something 0000.1 kg’s Lighter and 0000.1bhp more

  20. I'm in the same boat but leaning towards looknig for a mint, very low mile 1299s with carbon wheels as I expect there'll be lots of 1299 on the market soon. Supply should outstrip demand and all I really want is gobs of low down torque.
