I covered a couple of those (the ones with pictures) here: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/kevlar-jeans-recommendations.57270/#post-1051412
I see you did, also copied a few from other customers who were off at slightly higher speeds than the ones you included too... At the end of the day, it's whether the end user is comfortable with the level of protection offered and residual risk to themselves... I am happy with my choice and will continue to use my hoods for the types of rides I purchased them for
I did say anyone here, not a recommendation on a site that could have been made up by anyone. I personally (in Hood jeans at 40-50mph) had a really nasty experience, and would NEVER recommend Kevlar jeans. I even did my best to get me weight off of my knee whilst I was sliding. I don’t trust what I read on manufacturers sites (I doubt they would put my account up), and I’m more interested in actual accounts from people here.
You’re happy because of what you’ve read rather than what you’ve experienced. I’m coming from completely the opposite end. I’m not trying to cause an argument, I would just rather nobody had to go through the recovery I had to.
I can understand your standpoint @Jolley and had I experienced the same as you, perhaps I wouldn't wear mine... However I did actually personally speak to a couple of people whom had also had good experiences with off's in hood jeans which is ultimately why I ended up with these over other makes... We're all slightly different animals with different thought processes and have differing levels of acceptable risk. Sorry to hear about your previous unfortunate experience with bike jeans... I'm not out for an argument nor disagreement, just offering thoughts from the other side of the fence
After riding the previous post on these jeans I had a look at the website and have ordered a pair, definitely better value than my Knox jeans.
I imagine much of it depends on what type of road surface you are grinding along, also be it wet or dry. Tumbling or sliding, the parameters are endless.
ARMOUR WILL MOVE ON WHEN YOU HIT THE PAVEMENT...SO NOT MUCH PROTECTION....PLUS MOST KEVLAR JEANS HAVE VERY LITTLE KEVLAR...OVERPRICED JUNK
What do you mean by most kevlar jeans have very little kevlar? The G8 Evo version from Hood has kevlar covering almost 100% of the jean. So i'm not sure i understand the comment. http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/hood-motorcycle-jeans/g8-evo-jean-mens-blue-copy/
I think your comment is somewhat flawed in the fact that you pay for what you get... If you buy ill fitting items then yes there is a good chance that the armour will move, invest in some decent ones which are fully lined (as pointed out by @jdearauj) and fit you well and the protection offered will be far superior to the overpriced junk you talk and perhaps have experience of??
I've had a pair of Saint jeans for a month or so now. Not had any off's to test them (thankfully) , actually not really had much opportunity to test on the bike at all really, but have been able to wear them as everyday jeans as well ( f*ing expensive every day jeans I have to say!) They did shrink slightly on first wash but otherwise are a pretty good fit and feel like normal, straight cut, jeans, and not baggy. Not totally convinced the Knee protection pockest are quite right? Feel slightly high when crouched on the bike. So far though I'm pretty pleased and do feel like they offer at least some protection if i need. ... but not cheap! ( and if you live in the UK, the nice orange pocket lining does make them look like you work in B&Q lol)
I have had a pair of Hood's for a number of years. No "off" experience. I like them and have the knee and hip armour fitted. I like them a lot and they feel different - thicker and more windproof - than standard jeans. I use them for most of my riding. I have never been a fan of leather jeans but I do get the protection point. I also have a pair of gore-tex trousers but much too hot in the summer. Interesting video
If the slide in an off lasted twenty minutes and covered a few miles this test might have some value.. If anything it shows the cheap jeans are better than I thought they would be and give some protection in a real world off. I wear lindsrands as they feel tougher and fit better than the competition but don’t want to put them to the test
any one who has the resurgence voyager jeans? they are expensive but apparently very good, would like to know if your happy with yours?
Similarly I would be interested in any real life experiences of either the Resurgence Pekev City Chinos or the Rev'it Alpha RF Textile Jeans. I work across 2 sites and sometimes can get away with attending a meeting wearing this type of jean rather than; riding to one place, changing into work trousers and shoes; attend a meeting, change back into bike gear; ride to the second place, change again. Thanks.
There seems to be allot of good noise about the British brand Knox. Does anybody own a pair of Knox jeans and can provide some feedback?
