I would have been interested in this one, but I notice its a quiet day 98db, so I have booked the 22nd with NL, noisy day 108db.
Too much of a gamble to drive for three hours, and spend £200 and not pass a noise meter test, I will stick with the 22nd and the 108db drive by, lets hope we both have a good dry day anyway.
This is for Bedford who are known to be pretty strict on noise: so they class 87 drive by = 101 static. And Donny is 98 drive by so that's got to be quite a high static. It's also £117 not £200. Anyway, hope you have a fun, dry and safe day with NL.
Yes, spoke to Leanne? and she recognised the group name. Final price to be decided but worst case is £119 dropping to £107ish if the five place's met. I didnt ask about the garage cos there bumf says group bookings of 5 or more gets a garage unless its at Cadwell or Bedford
They couldn't do a garage, i did ask. Apparently it's a little hit/miss and you need to get i nearly doors.
I will be interested to hear how you all got on, and what bikes you are all riding, I used £200 as an approx overall cost to include travelling and overnight stay. Often looked at a cheap 98db day but didn't want to risk it, I am usually on either a 1098S with a full Termi system, or a RSV4 RF with an Akrapovic. If I was nearer the circuit I would come down a check out what bikes are able to get on a 98db day. Not been on a NL day for a few years so should be interesting.
Please don't add up the costs of track days, wives may read this one day....... I've mailed MSV to ask about the noise but looking at the "Circuit Guide" section it looks like Donny is always (well, the default) is 98 drive by. As it's owned and/or run by MSV I can't see NL getting louder days then MSV. At Brands their quite days are 98db static and 88db drive by. Now what would be an issue.......
Brands now 88db drive by ? My fekking mountain bike wouldn't pass that. Okay bit of an exaggeration but come on. Andy
They do have 108 dB days too: http://www.msvtrackdays.com/bike/calendar/2018/apr/10-dp-loud/ but you're right most of them are 98 dB. I'm not too far from Donny, I spoke to them about noise testing and they said come down on one of their days so I think Ill be popping in on the 3rd March most likely to get the 1299 with Akra cans tested. Ill let you know how it goes. Also, I wont be able to make the 26th for the trackday, I'll be going the week after on 3rd April. Hopefully with about 3 other chaps from work, hopefully more though to get the discount! Anyone else who is free then is welcome!
I can just about get through a quiet day at Donington on my 1098 with baffles fitted in the termi end cans. I have to short shift where the noise meter is or I get black flagged.
MSV just emailed me: "You may recall when we first discussed the above group booking that we weren’t able to offer you a reserved garage. I’m pleased to inform you this is no longer the case and your group will have a garage reserved on the day." So we have a garage just need 2 more riders
I think I can do it. I'll be driving over from Geneva and I have to be at my Mum's in Spain for the 28th so if I can make the connections, I'm in! Checking flights now!
It's never payday when you have your own business, however you do get to choose when to take time off, therefore: It looks like I can drive over on 23rd/24th, do the trackday on the 26th, leave my van and bikes at my daughter's in Hampshire, fly from Gatwick to Malaga to visit my Mum on the 28th, return after a few days and then the long drive back to Geneva early in April having meantime had some work done on the van far more reasonably than having it done here. So in a word; I'll book tomorrow and figure the rest will magically fall in to place. I'll most likely bring the 999S with the 998 as a back up. They each have full-bore open Termi systems so fingers crossed. If it's raining I will literally commit suicide. I haven't mentioned any of this to the gf yet as I'm not seeing her until saturday. Regardless of this, my usual plan would be to tell her round about the evening of the 22nd/morning of the 23rd as I'm loading the bikes into the van!
