  1. i should stick to riding.....:upyeah:

  2. As above mate. I soak up a lot of what Wilf talks to me about but you are now into the very fine nitty gritty that’s way over my head. Andy

  3. “Don’t ask me, I just operate the spanners”? :joy:

  4. But I have a curious mind and it’s a serious question because I’m wondering how much adjustment would be noticeable or even too much, because my bike forthis year has an adjustable pivot (FTR swingarm).

  5. No mate, I make sure the bog is clean for the customers to use, vacuum, make tea and coffee for the workshop boys and answer the phone when no-one else is available :upyeah: Andy

  6. And I bet you’re never appreciated either. Nobody tells you to put your feet up while they do the vacuuming for a change, makes you a nice cuppa or even says thank you once in a while?

I can feel one of your migraines coming on ;) :kissing_heart:

  7. Fookin ell

  8. So the potential adjustment frame end of the swing arm, (ie moving the pivot point up or down) is to alter swing arm angle..this really is key and something historically ducati has struggled to get due to the long engine configuration..

you want a longer swing arm then put one in or move the wheel back in the adjusters

  9. True, and he's only a customer

  10.
  11. Hover-a-rounder, not hoover around :)

  12. I run the BST carbon jobbie on my 1098R which is 15mm longer than usual. I was told it would calm the wheelie situation down a bit. But does it bollocks.... Looks amaaaazin' though. And that's important!

  13. Picture opportunity :)

  14. i run a bursi magnesium longer one on my combination...

  15. This guys having fun

  16. Head to heads are going to be interesting and there'll be a fair few of those coming....way out of my price range but nice to read about...spect I'll see a few at the TT this year...

I still can't help thinking it should have been a litre through.... And if it was the power would be nothing to write home about...but if it made that power out off a litre displacement....that. Would have been something.

  17. There’s a litre coming I believe next year in the form of an ‘R’ version for racing. They ran with the 1100 for the road biased bike because of torque.

  18. I know that but it would have been good to keep it uniform.....a la apriliia....shudder to think v4 1100 street fighter...

  19. Handling of the R should be mega with 1000cc and lightened internals.

  20. The adjustment on the R swing arm moves the pivot point up and down slightly. It changes the anti squat characteristics as described here http://www.suspact.com/Anti_Squat.html

I'm no geometry mega expert but I do have pretty good experience of the difference in feel between the early Panigale and the -4mm settings on the 1299 and 2015 1199R. The complaints that many people made about the early Panigale pumping on corner exit were addressed by them lowering the setting 4mm to take into account wheel spin on corner exit making the bike pump up and down as it lost and gained grip. In my experience this only happened if you either have poor quality track or (I reckon) tyres. The only time I got pumping on the 1199S was going from the GP to National straight at Silverstone where the tarmac is very poor. I never had a problem anywhere else whilst using slicks or supercorsas at mostly good quality surfaced tracks. I have only run the 1199R on the stock -4mm settings and must get round to experimenting a bit this year. I'm sure that there's a million other things to take into consideration and another two million if you have access to different size swingers but that's my two pence worth anyhow fwiw.

Ducati quote for the early 1199R:

Built for racing, the 1199 Panigale R gives riders a further degree of freedom in the choice of the optimal set-up of the bike, offering the possibility of moving the pivot of the swingarm, in order to increase or decrease the chain pull angle. By moving the pivot of the swingarm up, the chain pull angle increases, thus extending the single rear shock absorber. In this way the rear dive effect while accelerating is reduced, and consequently the unabsorbed torque is returned to provide greater drive. Should there be poor grip or rain, the 1199 Panigale R allows the swingarm to be adjusted to use lower chain pull angles, which make the application of the torque more linear and so provide greater stability. The new 1199 Panigale R offers four different levels for the swingarm pivot: starting from level 0, which corresponds to the chain pull angle of the standard 1199 Panigale, it is possible to increase the height of the swingarm pivot by 2 mm or decrease it by 2 or 4 mm.
    - The 2015 1199R is set to -4mm as standard which is the same as the 1299 Pani.
