V4 On The Dyno At Jhs

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Advikaz, Feb 9, 2018.

  1. From a service perspective I completely get the extra 100cc. The fact the V4 has stupid performance and 15k service intervals is a real winner, and shows Ducati’s faith in durability.

Sure if you are a pure track day nut/racer the R will be the one to have, but for most people 200bhp and next level performance will be enough.

  2. Oh, go on then...

  3. Remember this is a Gen 1. There's plenty more to come from the current configuration. Sure, the 103cc lengthens the stroke and maintains the grunt but its probably the cheap option fix. With an R all your money is in the engine (well, not all) and the V4 R will be no different. It'll spank the current 1103cc, it'll have to. The Gen 2 R in say, 2020 will be a proper beauty.
Don't forget, Doocardi know exactly what they're doing when it comes to building a competitive V4. The new V4 is just a taster. Interesting times ahead I'd say.

  4. I agree but, as youve just said "itll spank the current 1103cc" - so....why bother with the 1100....thats my point...seemed like an easy option to get the bragging rights on the current litre offerings...but, then, where do you stop....i think the Norton is a 1200 from recollection..

  5. It'll boil down to cost. It's easier and cheaper to cheat with displacement

  6. Yeah - it'd be interesting to see how it all pans out (pardon the pun) if money was no object id prefer the litre version, but, saying that, its not going to be a road bike, or is it??

  7. As above cost, but also characteristics. The R will likely have the power high up in the revs and less low down torque so will not be as friendly on the road. My current R is definitely only happy when being thrashed, if I was on the road much id swap it for a 1299S for sure.
