So what have you done today..?

  1. Test drove a VW Bora for a hack that had allegedly done 87K. More like 287K. Submarined seats, a steering wheel so shiny I could hardly hold it, 4 different tyres all at different pressures, and a noise so unmistakenly "bottom end" on cold start up that it made me shudder. Oddly, the mot certificate noted on the advisories that it had no oil in it at mot time (April), by way of red light on the dash. Family car, fsh, well looked after etc etc

    Nice car

  2. shame, the Bora is generally an excellent car, go for the 130tdi (not the 150) or the V5 for a cracking bit of kit. Your guess on the mileage is probably right. I had a passat taxi recently that had 271,000 miles on the clock, and it was like new. you have to do something extreme to kill a VW

BTW, the 150 TDi bora has a habit of cracking piston rings - with the engine running take the oil cap off, there should be no appreciable blow by. If the rings are gone the fumes will be coming out at a spectacular rate of knots. Forgive me if im teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but the spec is easy to differentiate, its all about the colour of the tdi badge.

    all silver = 90bhp
    silver td red i = 11o bhp
    silver t red di = 130
    all red = 150 bhp

  3. Walked around all the jewellery shops in Bridgetown Barbados. Cost me a bracelet equal to some carbon bits for my Multi, but that's the way it goes at times, my time will come.

  4. Thanks Phil, but I wont buy a diesel for a couple of reasons really, I don't do enough mileage to warrant the extra fuel costs and if I'm being honest I'm just not a fan of diesels, 'orrible dirty nasty smelly old noisy fings

It's so hard trying to find something 'nice'. Actually, it's not, it's just hard trying to find something nice and not pay silly money for it.

Money is for motorbikes ... :upyeah:

  5. I'm certain you can't go wrong with a nice accord (Audi a6 petrol variants go pretty cheap, too - but high on the road tax).

  6. I am in complete agreement. Having said that I may treat myself to something nice if I opt out of the company car scheme in a year or two, I really like the late model Mercedes CLK's. Diesel isn't really worth the extra, even if you do a lot of miles. I'm going to be doing about 22,000 miles in 2013, and diesel didn't work out any better for me.

  7. 1.25 litre fiasco is on the cards me thinks, oh the excitement

  8. Finally went into the garage and took the track bodywork off my Evo ready for a return to road trim after Cartagena in Oct!! I've started it every couple of weeks but been too cold and crappy to be interested in anything other than fingering the button and twsiting throttle...but free listing on ebay gave me some motivation ;-)

next the big clean (not that it needs much) then back to jow it was pre Cartagena and up for sale ready for spring

  9. Yeah, mine has worked out well so far, its a very solid and comfortable car.

  10. Walked and reminded myself why I like to live in the new forest ImageUploadedByTapatalk1358082746.042980.jpg
