V4 Insurance Quotes

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by Ravenscry, Jan 29, 2018.

  1. Absolutely, I'd fully expect to pay £500 to insure a Ducati not greater in value than 6k ...I'm 8 or 9 years no claims

  2. Fairly sure if you had one sitting in the garage, a grand insurance will be pushed way back in your mind and forgotten about, in the knowledge, the premium be a lot less next year.

You all know once the insurance company hears Ducati, their screen starts flashing

  3. I’ve been finding it a bit difficult to get quotes, my normal broker is getting back to me next week, I pay £590 on the RSV4, as this is a brand new bike I expect it to be more, I got a quote on a 1299S, an RSV4 RF and an R1 M and all came in around £750, has anyone else had trouble getting quotes on the V4?, I’m sure I will be able to get cover but it’s a headache!, I’ve got a few weeks to arrange though,’glad I started early.
Just checked and have had an email back from one place who seem to have run it through as a Panigale R, not a base V4 and was nearly £1900!.

  7. That’s a relief!, I’ve got a few more weeks until I have to have it sorted so should all be ok by then.

  8. I got silly quotes my bike comes 1st march hopefully my insurance be sorted today by mce

  12. That sounds promising, I don’t think there will be much point in swapping mine over as I will only have a Month or just under left on the Aprilia policy by the time I want to get insured on the V4, really I need to ride up there on the Aprilia and come back on the Ducati!.

  13. @ibb1 thread moved and merged.

  14. I've skimmed so if I've missed it, apologies.

Most of the talk has been about insuring it to ride on the road. Given the 1299 is more than good enough for the road, I presume some of you rich folk must be buying the V4 for the track?

IF that is the case, how have you got on insuring it as a track bike, storing it at home and sitting in trailers at a race track

  17. I'm sure it will come down loads in the coming weeks etc as only one company quoted but yea its a absolute joke at the mo.Dont you just love insurance companies\brokers.

  18. New this forum stuff.

    Current 899 is going 31 March for a V4.

So far the only quote I can get is from MCE. It might be my only choice if the specialist insurers noted in this thread don’t come back something competitive!!!

Ducati insurance would not quote due to my claims history. Main issue seems to be having my car nicked as a result of my house being burgled!!!

Anyway has anyone got some alternative insurance companies??? Go compare etc is simply a no go.

I have more security on the garage than Fort Nox and it will have a Biketrac tracker fitted.

    Any ideas welcome.

  19. So far I have quotes from Bemoto, Ducati Insurance and Carole Nash. I have the future V4 and a 2017 S1000R on the quotes and Carole Nash (yesterday) and Ducati are about £1100. Bemoto were about £1550. All require a Biketrac to be fitted.

Carole Nash now have the V4 on their system, but it still seems that there are limited numbers of insurance companies who have a realistic risk profile of the V4.

To put this in perspective I previously had the S1000R and a newish S1000R (I like that engine) on the same policy and it was about £550.

All figures are fully comp, no points, 1 theft claim in the last few years. Tip - never ride anything nice anywhere near London unless you’re just passing through.

I should get the V4 mid March, so I’ll keep shopping around until then to see if I get a sensible quote, but I’m not holding my breath.

  20. whats stupid about it is, I could but a NEW Aprilia rsv4rf at 19k and the ins cost would be 400 quid with no tracker just datagged . How is that right.
