1098 Servicing Cost - 1098

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by benster789, Feb 17, 2018.

  1. My 1098 needs its 7.5k mile service (valve clearances etc?) and wondering if anyone knows roughly how much it should be?! Belts too.

I’ve had a couple of opinions both of which vary greatly.

  2. Around £400 -£500 I reckon

  3. Thinking back to when I had mine done a couple of years ago... My total bill was around £1k but I had other bits done also which added around £450 to the service costs. That was at Italia Moto too.

So @cookster's estimate sounds about right to me...

If you use @Exige's belts and a reputable indie you will save a few £'s

  5. Interesting....how would I order some?

I’ve been recommended Steve Jordan Motorcycles as they’re not too far from me. Can anyone vouch for them?

  6. Called Steve Jordan. An unbelievably helpful lady took down all the details and confirmed it only needs a service and belts; valve clearances due at 15k miles. Not sure why I though they were due at 7.5k.

    Buying belts from @Exige

  7. Bang on.

  8. 1098 is valve clearances very 7500.... the 11 degree motors, MTS and Diavel are 15k. Probably won't need adjusting at 7500, but it is in the 1098 schedules

  9. Are Steve Jordan happy to fit Exige’s belts?

  10. Yes I said I had the belts already and they were fine.

  11. Just been quoted £900 from Ducati Coventry for the belts, valve clearance etc service. Feeling a bit wary now?

  12. How about giving @nelly a try?

  13. Ouch. My total came to £550 inc new fork seals.

  14. Did that include belt fitting and valve clearance check, oil, filter, TPS, balance, air filter etc?

  15. If you are in the Leeds area, Ducati john. My full monty service on the 1098 was £750 ish if i remember correctly.

  16. Yes to all but no belts. New fork seals too.

  17. Sorry to bang on about this...
When you say “no belts” do you mean it didn’t include fitting the belts you supplied or whether it means the cost of supplying belts was not included (since you supplied them yourself).

    Cheers.

  18. Thats JHP tax

  19. The current ones were checked and were fine so were left on there. They had been replaced a lot more recently than thought or was needed by previous owner!
