Anyone Bought A Shoei Neotec 2 ?

  1. As the title, a modular helmet is better suited to observing and I’m drawn to the Shoei because of the pre preparation for the Senna. Any feed back (about the helmet) appreciated. Andy

  2. Okay so I went into Infinity at Farnborough yesterday and tried one on. I can’t explain why but every modular helmet I’ve tried on sends me into a claustrophobic panic when the jaw piece is locked in place. To be fair to the Neotec 2 though there is good space in front of my chin with the jaw piece locked down and the helmet feels very comfortable. I’m not sure it’s £599 comfortable if you want one of the three graphics. The design tie in with Senna makes the installation of the dedicated Bluetooth kit really easy and it looks fully integrated with the helmet so nothing protruding to disturb the air flow. Infinity offer 20% discount on the Senna when bought with the Shoei which brings it down to about £210, so you are looking at just over £800 for the package. I think the package is good enough to be tempted to see if there are any show discounts at the ExCel next weekend. Andy

  3. I've had the Neotech and Schuberth C3 Pro, The Neotech is a bit heavier with a smaller aperture, but I think it was probably a little bit quieter.
Hopefully you got a decent discount at the show, there are usually some great deals out there.

  4. Infinity were price matching a small retailer at the show and an Excursion graphics Neotec II was £450 (£599rrp). Had a couple of rides with mine now and yes it is heavier than my X-Spirit III, a little bit noisier and the venting not quite as good but the Neotec is very comfortable, the visor view appears to be quite a lot wider and the integrated drop down sun visor makes a big difference. It’ll take time to get used to the modular jaw but it was positively better at the petrol station. Waiting on the Senna s20 to be delivered but currently very happy with my decision. Andy

  5. Is the only reason for the senna? the reason i ask is that ive got an x-spirit III with an integrated interfone f5mc with the upgraded speaker kit in there...

  6. I’m currently training to be an IAM Observer and the through journey debrief stops are a lot easier with a modular helmet rather than gloves off and helmet off to have a chat. Nowt wrong with my X-Spirit, been a fan since its first launch but it’s a convenience thing. Andy

  7. My Sena SRL was delivered yesterday. Didn’t know what to expect but anyone familiar with the construction of their Shoei will find no problem fitting the kit although for a purpose made head set, you need to make space to lose (to my mind unneccessary) extra cable from the battery pack. I needed to download the full instruction book from the website because the quickstart guide relied on some pre knowledge about headsets which I don’t have. That said, setting up and pairing with my phone was straightforward and only needed one attempt and their phone app worked really well. Only down side I’ve come across is that the volume needs to be tweaked if you wear moulded ear plugs and I might eventually get bluetooth speakers inserted in them which was always an option. 8. I have the Neotec 2, used it today for the first time, got to say pretty good, slight less wind noise than my C3 pro on same bike and wearing same gear, it is as comfortable, no buffeting on the head, all in all pretty pleased, have the bt in it, not really tried though but did mess and seems easy good buttons, easier to charge than C3 pro, and less money.

Forget to mention using it on a DVT 1200 with pikes peak screen.
Bear in mind what is great for one when it comes to helmets might be crap for someone else.

  9. Nearly 500 miles this weekend and I'm very pleased with it. Tried playing ACDC today and volume was fine. Andy

  10. Got one the other week and really like it. Had a GT Air before, and don’t use the GT Air at all now.

I ride a 939 super sport S and felt like the GT Air was being pulled off my head at anything above 80mph. Doesn’t happen with the Neotec 2. The vents are easier to open on the GT Air but I’d sat the Neotec vents are more effective.

When filling up, I use the BP or Shell app to pay quickly. Flip the lid, iPhone X Face ID works... fill up... ride off... simple.

Am still waiting for the Sena SRL to arrive, so can’t give any feedback on that device.

  11. Welcome @Widow79 introduce yourself properly in the newbies section why doncha :)

  12. The Sena SRL is only just being rolled out in the UK, fairly sure mine was one of the first so could be a couple of weeks yet. The wait is worth though I think. There is also an app for your phone to manage the settings and updates. Andy

  13. Just about to buy a neotec 2 but none seems to have the srl kit to go with it ! Going touring in Europe first week off June and keep being told that they "should" be in stock by then ! However they have been told that before ! Don't want to buy the helmet and find I can't get the srl before I go

  14. I checked with Infinity yesterday and they said end of May for those that had already placed an order. Also contacted SENA in the US who put me onto the EMEA distributor, who replied there is a backlog of Srl orders with no eta date.

Looks like SENA underestimates the demand big time.

  15. I have just checked with Helmet City and they currently have the SRL in stock but only available if bought with the Neotech 2 on line, not at one of their shops. Otherwise, the SRL is expected in the UK sometime in May and pre orders will be met first. Andy

  16. That's weird as I rang helmet city and they told me no stock and can't guarantee srl before end of May!!! And that was at lunch time !

  17. Got mine at the show from Helmet city, but was not in a hurry, and it took about a month before I got the helmet with SRL,they even fitted it for me :) but was 2 weeks after they expected delivery date.

  18. Ok just put a order I online let's see what happens lol

  19. Fingers crossed. Andy
