Morning all, Please forgive the stupid question from a new owner... I'm keen to add some crash protection to my new-to-me 1199 which I'll be using largely on track. I've seen the rear wheel spindle protector which seems like a good idea, but wondered how you use a paddock stand on it. I presume you can just use a traditional two-sided stand with hooks, although some of the slider kits appear to be flush rather than grooved. Can anyone shed any light on this for a poor ignorant newbie? I'm currently looking at this kit from Design Corse: https://www.designcorse.com/products/r-g-spindle-sliders?variant=4232823297 Cheers, RW
Yep, you use the usual two-sided. The protectors I have seen have a grove to accept the stand, like the R&G's in your link. Not fitting crash protectors to the rear makes it very easy to remove your rear wheel though. So it depends I guess on how often you'd need to do that versus the difference in price between the single sided rear paddock stand you'd then require, and the usual two-sided type whch you may already have?
Cheers Dano, I think removing the spindle slider is a single nut, so if I'm right it wouldn't much slow down removing the rear wheel, and I don't whip the rear off that often anyway. I don't mind getting a single sided paddock stand, but I happen to have a collapsible double sided one which is really convenient for travelling to trackdays, so that actually works out just great. Thanks very much for your help. My confusion came mainly because some of the versions of rear wheel sliders I have seen don't have the groove (they're just a large smooth-edged puck) and I couldn't for the life of me work out how you're supposed to lift them. I presume with those you just have to remove the slider kit each time and then slide a single sided stand in... Anyway, thanks again. RW
