Nice write up and opinions I like a bike that divides opinions it’s interesting, if I were to buy another panigale tho I like the idea of owning an R
Good thread to get the ball fully rolling on people’s thoughts. Most of the bike will grow on me but I don’t think I will ever get used to the appearance below essentially concerning the centre of the picture. Roll on the evolution 2 styling wise, I can almost guarantee they will address this.
Thanks mate, Better is hard one... different for sure depends what you want and like from a bike.. If pushed for an answer, as a tool, yes I believe it is ‘better’ technically than a 1299! Certainly a more refined package even at its early stages. something needs to be done about that bloody quick shifter though. It is easier to live with as a road bike, more comfortable, more stable, smoother and the performance is more accessible to the masses.
I have no idea what it is about the colour, but you are right! It’s not the deep vivid red it should be. It looks like a maisto scale toy to me, the red is flat and looks like it needs a good polish all the time to me.
Well mines for going to be track only and these graphics give me a great base idea. I'm ordering some FullSix CF body kit. It'll look the dogs when I'm finished. And for all the ums and ahh's regarding the V4- The games moved on, suck it up. I'm reliably informed that this bike is the absolute bollox on track and right now has more than the measure of the competition. Can't wait for my first trackday! Ooooh, it's fekkin ugly though eh?? Err, don't think so.....
You went out all day on a V4S in this weather? Clearly insane and opinions not to be trusted! When I moved from a 1098S to an RSV4 the two things I missed were torque and engine braking. Now I am back on a 1299S... I also have a S1000R and when I ride it I miss the torque and engine breaking from the V2. Interesting comments on the quick shifter. Does the V4 use the same micro-switches in the little black box on the shift rod that the 1299 has? I have read lots of complaints about the shifter on the 1299 including from some people who are on their third or fourth unit. Mine has been exemplary so far. How big is the throw on the gear lever on the V4? On the 1299 when I first got it I had false neutral issues. These went away as soon as I fitted CNC rearsets that greatly reduced the lever throw. I have diddy size 7 feet and obviously wasn't moving the OEM lever far enough.
The plain red seems to accentuate the bad bits of the fairing design. Comparing the V4S (plain red) with the Speciale (Tricolore) at the show was like looking at two different models. The InfoStrada graphics in your picture have the same effect and seem to hide the bulbous tank/fairing interface. Any news on the sound levels for U.K. tracks yet?
Just shows how different people have different tastes and opinions, as i do (think it's fekkin ugly). I'm not buying one though, so won't have one in my garage, so it matters not. As long as you like it to hell with anybody else.
I heard a rumour that standard bikes have already failed uk noise tests. However I have absolutely no confirmation on this as it was read on Facebook so could be a load of bollocks!
Yep, 5 degrees and bone dry. Bike fills you with confidence even in those temperatures and I found myself pushing on regardless with no dramas.
Yep, 5 degrees and bone dry. Bike fills you with confidence even in those temperatures and I found myself pushing on regardless with no dramas. Even had a go at triggering the backing in control. Those that know the rye/camber roads will know it’s like a mini Nurburgring
Irrelevant to me. Euro track tomfoolery only for me. I'm hoping Termignoni come up with something tasty. And not that bloody awful underseat thing.. yuk.
that's a good case in point, it's where I disagree with Exige because you can use colours and graphics to distract the eye and 'improve' an appearance to some but the test of a good bit of styling (MOO) is to see if it looks good in any base colour - it's a personal thing, glad you like it.
I’d imagine you’ll almost definitely go faster on a v4! If anyone has the skills and bravery on their bank accounts behalf, they will find it a very fast track bike out of the box for sure. In my opinion even an average rider generally will go faster on the v4 purely as mentioned because it’s so easy to ride and a bit of a pussy cat for a superbike.
Yay! I was right, Liz said so, must be true, Yay! long grass? .............................. looking for you lot no need to thanks me
I was having a similar conversation yesterday with a non motorcycling friend, explaining to him the difference between my 1198s and S1000R. I actually think the BMW is quicker, but it does it so well it feels much less of an experience, where when i get off the 1198 after a good thrashing i am shaking all over with adrenaline, and could easily bring up a little bit of sick. After a spirited ride on the Beemer i could eat a nice cheese sandwich.
Erm, I don't think it has divided opinions at all - everyone so far thinks it's fuggly? No one has yet said it is stunning? Nor looks better than an 1199 / 1299 I don't think anyhoo...
