Are you sure? Didn’t the R’s come with Termignoni as standard? My Biposto standard silencer has the catalytic converter inside and the exhaust tips are much smaller than the Termignoni silencer which is a straight through and does not have a cat. Although they are physically the same size.
R’s came with termi as seperate item, fit it yourself. They cant sell a bike for the road with termi and no cat.
This is an old post I'm replying to but here goes anyway. All 999R's come with the standard exhaust system, like every other 999. They also got the 'race kit' exhaust (and ECU and air filters). 2003 999R had a variation on the standard exhaust with no catalytic converters and a 'straight through' muffler. So, little outlets like standard but with 'not for highway use' stamped on the underneath of the muffler. 2004 onwards came with the Termignoni asymmetric system.
Ah,this answers my question. I assumed that the spare end can I got with my Termi equipped '03 Bip was the cat' filled one. I rooted it out today as my fixer upper needed its can cover replacing. Imagine my delight when I saw it had a carbon cover, was straight through, stamped Ducati and "not for highway use"...result. Obvs off an early R.
Does anyone need a standard 999 system? I've a front pipe with cat' and a silencer cluttering the garage up... managed to pack @Denzil the Ducati off with a de-cat' pipe but he simply wouldn't unburden me of these remaining bits
I've 2 standard and cans cluttering up my shed... maybe you could take am? Start a breeding program or something?
There's truth in that statement. The last time I tried to post a front pipe the local post office were not super impressed either.
Mine is an early 2003 R. Has the 'race kit' version of the standard exhaust - it's the standard exhaust but with no cats and with two straight-through passages through to the small outlets. With "Not for Highway Use" stamped on the underside of the muffler. Ducati call it the Race Kit - yeah there's not a lot of race in it.... I might dig it out and take some photos of it.
