Marzocchi forks '96 750ss

  1. I am after some advice on oil weight and air gap on the marzocchi unadjustable forks that grace my 1996 750ss. I fitted new seals and put 10 weight oil in. Also reduced the air gap by 10mm from haynes recomendation. It feels a bit harsh and steering is slow. I was also thinking about pushing the forks up through the yolks as i only have one line showing. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  2. Although I now have adjustable Showas fitted, my Marzocchis were fine with the stock 7.5 oil and stock quantity of oil...380cc......and then I added 10cc more and they were as hard as hell.

I had three lines / four spaces showing.....normal handling fine, but in very slow corners (roundabouts)it could drop in suddenly halfway through and give you the sh*ts.

  3. Thanks for the info. Will increase the air gap and push the forks up. Think i will check the sag and possibly upgrade the springs.

  4. If it is any help, the sag for my Showas is 26 - 28mm.

Also, as far as I am aware, with the Marzocchis, one leg does compression damping, the other leg does rebound damping.

  6. Cheers it is good to get several opinions. Do you know a good supplier for the wilbers that can recommend the right spring weight/rate?

  7. He does.

Incoming... and well worth it by all accounts.

  8. ......BOING!!!.........enter Nog sidestage...........

......If he can't sort out your forks cost effectively, then there aren't many that can.
