I have some old VHS tapes that i was just about to bin. I will never replace my VHS player so they are now unwatchable. Dream twins Vee's V fours Bike gp 93 That kind of thing and a few other Duke marketing titles. Ooops duplicate , sorry.
Yes, I've a few, ahem....films....in the loft on VHS:wink: I don't have a video player anymore and even if I did they were shite anyway!
I kept my vhs recorder and tape WSB for a couple of mates that don't have sky. Haven't got a dvd recorder so its only way I can do it for them. Get a few raised eyebrows when I give a tape over in pub sometimes.
I think vhs was pensioned off too soon. A decent vcr with a good quality tape can work very well. The quality issues came from poor tapes.
In addition to DVDs, I have so many VHS tapes which would cost a fortune to replace, so yes, I have three VCRs, albeit one is in a CRT TV which is about to be disposed of. AL
Its the telly thats the problem. If you have any kind of HD tv, a VHS player a, wont plug into the back and b, the picture will make everything look like minecraft, or lego for those children from the 70s and 80s
Not sure about that...........Both my VHS players are plugged into my TVs......one is via a SCART to SCART lead (because I don't have a SCART to HDMI lead), and the other via the Co-ax ariel lead (Ariel to VCR; VCR to TV)..... Both work AOK....not much difference between the pictures I got on a CRT TV......certainly not Lego. AL
My Samsung led hdtv has an adapter that allows you to plug anything with a scart plug into it. Mind you, a PS1 has an exceptionally lego brick quality to it! You gotta check the packaging, as its a little pig tail with a plug and socket, its just in a little plastic bag and easily thrown out with the box. The better the tv, the more connectivity it has.
I've digitised all of my vinyl, CDs, videos and DVDs for ease of use. However, I have kept the originals. Why?.... e.g. You cannot replace the pleasure of opening a new gatefold album sleeve and reading the notes and anticipating the sound of the music you are about to hear for the first time with a download!!! The same applies with books.
I've still got a VHS, not that it gets much use. But I have quite a few cassettes that I still want to see. Can't see why I should bin it - surely it works just as well as it ever did. Mind you, my TV doesn't even have HDMI - strictly SCARTS. I'd just finally got a flat screen when SCARTS disappeared. Technology? Can't keep up with it.
What about Betamax or Video 2000. We were forced down the VHS route by the manufacturers. It's a bit like Blu Ray, they can naff off, I won't buy one. AND . . . Wide Screen TV ? Why is it when I watch some films / programs on mine, there must be at least 2.5 INCHES ( yeah, INCHES ) top and bottom that aren't used, so the picture is even smaller. Total rip off again by the manufacturers. So what's next ? Holograms no doubt. Can't wait for a sex film !
Talking of outmoded technology, does anyone know what you are supposed to do with your old cameras? You can't just chuck them in the bin. I have an OM10 with a couple of lenses etc. Now of course, it is completely useless and I have no idea what I should be doing with it.
If we are talking film cameras, I have three Pentax SLRs (one virtually brand new) and a load of lenses, plus three or four more compact type cameras....Pentax, Canon and Nikon...... Can't face just chucking them away........ AL
I used to love my OM10 !!!! i still love SLRs sold my big Nikon don't chuck it I want another Polaroid camera . I miss taking photos ... I used to love developing them it's magical watching the images appear. Some of my most treasured things are photos. great memories
