Welcome. I bought my 996 new nearly 20 years ago, grown very attached to it, would never sell it. I still believe its one of the most beautiful bikes ever designed, no fancy electronics, and quite easy to work on. A joy to ride.
So far, so good working on the 916. It's a little fiddly replacing the cam followers but after a few 'learning' strip-downs to get the shims just right, it all falls into place. I have to marvel at the engineering .... just astonishing. I've tensioned new belts with the 'Gates Carbon Drive' frequency app, done all the jobs they say you should do when you buy a 916, run it up a few times to temperature in the garage and all seems well. No leaks and it runs sweet. Just waiting now to take it out on the open-road.

hello and welcome dude. I have the superior 748 but still appreciate a 916. I'm 100% sure you will will be giggling like a school girl after ya first proper blast..
