Immobilizer Card

  1. First newbie question after getting my 696 today. After reading through the user manual as weather' too cold to go out and play, I've noticed that I should have an immobilizer card incase of a fault with key or ignition. I cant find the card so I presume it' been lost. How easy is it to get a replacement? Is it just a case of going to a dealer?
    Thanks in advance

  2. Not sure - probably can't be replaced, but I think Keys can be copied now as technology moved on so maybe not an issue - ask the seller anyway?

  3. Not a replaceable item

  4. Oh dear that sucks a lil, should I be worried?

  5. A little bit. If the antenna for the immobiliser fails which they do, you will be stuck. The card has the immobiliser override code to enable you to start it.
There was a thread on here about this very thing and I believe someone said a dealer can change the code

  6. Thanks I'll have a search on here, gonna phone where I bought it from incase they have it and forgot to give it to me.

  7. Ask them to contact the previous owner too and do the same yourself in case they don't.

  8. That' What I'm thinking. I have the original owners number in the service book but not the last one.

  9. Previous keeper is on the log book...

  10. Just emailed him as I found him on Facebook haha, fingers crossed.

  11. It's vitally important that you have this card, if the bike has one. It can prove to be expensive in the event of an immobiliser failure if you don't. o_O
