First newbie question after getting my 696 today. After reading through the user manual as weather' too cold to go out and play, I've noticed that I should have an immobilizer card incase of a fault with key or ignition. I cant find the card so I presume it' been lost. How easy is it to get a replacement? Is it just a case of going to a dealer? Thanks in advance
Not sure - probably can't be replaced, but I think Keys can be copied now as technology moved on so maybe not an issue - ask the seller anyway?
A little bit. If the antenna for the immobiliser fails which they do, you will be stuck. The card has the immobiliser override code to enable you to start it. There was a thread on here about this very thing and I believe someone said a dealer can change the code
Thanks I'll have a search on here, gonna phone where I bought it from incase they have it and forgot to give it to me.
It's vitally important that you have this card, if the bike has one. It can prove to be expensive in the event of an immobiliser failure if you don't.
