Some bargains with nearly new BMW cars. Just recently had a 330D se coupe, just over 2 year old and 15k showing when purchased. List price for spec was £46k, paid £16k! Awesome car with paddle shift/auto and huge torque, but 30mpg without trying which was cool for the performance available.
My M6 was recording 9.9mpg when I killed it... Two weeks driving around Italy cost me exactly (as in, to the nearest pound!) £1,000 in fuel.
My Son has just bought a 430D with very high spec, was £45k ish new, is a Feb 2017 car with 2900 miles on it. £28k, so he's well made up tooling around in that at 23 years old. They took 23k plus his near 6 year old Fiesta Metal (fake cheap to insure ST).
A friend had one of the last of the V8 M3s and he got rid of it after a year, it was rattling itself to bits and had quite a bit of warranty work. I respect the M cars a lot but give me a E63 AMG S or a Panemera Turbo over an M5 any day, or better yet, the forthcoming TVR .
Funny you should say that. My car went for some maintenance today and I got a 718 Boxter S courtesy car. I know it’s a birds car and all that but it was bloody great fun. Filled the tank and took my son for a blast through Lincolnshire along some great bike roads. Had a great day, thoroughly enjoyed myself. Definitely as much fun as anything through the twisties. Quicker than I thought too!
V4 Pani Standing 1/4 10.1 secs a cut and paste from 11 years ago... 2007 Ducati 1098S Compare Car Quarter mile 9.8 That's some progress in 11 years
Ha, she missed it. She’s up in Aberdeen til tomorrow. Got a call from OPC Sheffield this afternoon- car ready. So shot back over (398 launch controls, ha ha...) and swapped back to mine. PS hope the Porsche tech wasn’t doing the same with mine.... yikes!
What a pile of absolute poo, the chap in the Blade is obviously one of the many who thinks and says that anyone one can go fast in a straight line. This is me and my old 08 Blade at Thorney Island doing slightly better that an 11.2.
Apparently the V4 is tricky to launch. The good news is it doesn’t matter a jot unless you’re racing one.
All modern 1000’s are aren’t they, Getting that much power down in the first two gears isn’t easy. They have too much power for the rake of the bike meaning they just wheelie for fun To me superbikes aren’t for drag racing (probably the same for you), they are for tracks. They advertised the v4 as a track tool and despite having not ridden one on track yet I can tell it will be a very good and accessible track bike. Lap times is where the v4 will be at home not standing 1/4 mile and drag races. Part of it I’m sure is down to the enormously long clutch biting point lol I think I went in to the above in my original post. Some people are expecting this bike to be “pull your arms out of your sockets fast in a straight line” it isn’t that kind of bike. It’s a track scalpel not a straight line monster. Arguably it should be both with the claimed bhp but it didn’t feel it to me, and YouTube vids are now coming up which are also concurring with the fact that this bike isn’t a drag/straight liner. Whether tuned or not, a slip on and a map on a zx10 shouldn’t be enough to fend off a bike which out of the box makes a claimed shit load more power. But I can tell you that the v4 will be a much better out of the box track bike. Horses for courses.
I didn’t realise a 911 was so light until I looked to buy one. Not anything like that league for pace, but lightness makes it so much better. I’d love to try a newish cayman or boxster.
My car is due Oct 2019, as long as I’m still in the position I am now, I can see a silly daily car purchase coming. Must confess, the thought of a 430 almost new at sub 30k would be hard to look past tho
430’s that cheap really? :0 they’ll shoot back up, Ferrari’s always do! Look what 360’s and 355’s did years back... get it purchased ! I’ve debated it numerous times but end up seeing sense with help from the wife.. I’d like an Aston. Very nearly got a v12 vantage a while back but again wife helped me with the decision haha
As it happens bradders, lad is in Amsterdam watching football till sunday, so I bought it to work tonight, lovely car and very refined, 8 speed auto near seamless, and the whole thing feels a quality product. Nice car, he's very very happy with it. One point I did notice, in Sport+, really tail happy But turn all the electronics back on, very stable.
