Dunno as it's sorted as a complete package. You could talk to Tony Barker there, who is the MD. Tony can be contacted here - [email protected] Tell him Terry sent you HTH
Yeah - id thought of that (she's so not into bikes its untrue) if mention anything bike related i get told to shut the fuck up....hence the reason why something like that would be near impossible to get past her....
The UKMOC is organising a WDW2018 trip in a similar fashion to previous events. Principally its transportation by van, fly drive is an option. The trip takes in the Night of the Monsters event held at the 100hp club in Varese. The 100hp club will provide guides for ride outs into the foot hills of the dolomites. It is a total of 11 days (7 working days) including overnight stops in Metz. There are a couple of places left. PM for further details
I have decided to do the road trip now, booked the Portsmouth to St Malo ferry for the Friday 13th sailing. Going through France and into Italy via Turin, and across the northern edge of Italy and then head down the coast to Rimini. See yawl there Anyone fancies joining me your more than welcome. Ferry was a couple of hundred quid (well a touch less actually) but an overnight service...so its beer-oclock) wake up in France at 8am then off through the nature forrest covered reserves of France into Bella Italia 2 weeks of tootling about with WDW in between .... perfik My route will be, St Malo to Clairmont Ferrand, Lyon get the the French border and take a rest Then to Turin area and then down to the Italian coastal city of Genoa. Follow the coastal road (its awesome to ride and the scenery is amazing) to just north of Le Speza, head inland on the SR and SS63 road towards Bologna. Not sure how many stop overs so far but at least 2 overnighters to R and R. Bologna to Rimini motorway dash. Maybe take 3 days at a gentle pace doing approx 300 miles a day. Hopefully arrive fresh on Thursday ready for WDW. May do a different route back to take in Lake Garda and through Geneva on the return leg.
I have just booked at the Hotel Piero Della Francesca in Urbino. Modern hotel with aircon, breakfast, parking, bar, views, balconies, near to supermarket, bank, etc. and walking distance from the old town. Also pretty cheap. A few kilometres from Misano (via Tavullia). It'll do for me. Incidentally I hope to visit the Mobidelli Museo in Pesaro, which is near Urbino. It is rarely open, but I believe Saturday afternoons are the best bet. http://www.museomorbidelli.it/ Actually there are so many buildings, art galleries, etc I want to see in the Urbino region that I may have to stay longer, to allow enough time. http://www.urbinoeprovincia.com/wpuep/
I am certainly going to try and make it, work and gf permitting. I live between Geneva and Evian les Bains but the bikes and maybe the gf will be going in the van with sleeping space in the pop-top roof above.
If anyone who is planning a trip to WDW in July 2018 also needs to buy some rare classic Ducati racing parts, they could consider calling in en route at Old Racing Spare Parts in Casalgrande (which is a few Km south-west of Modena): http://www.oldracingspareparts.com/
I now have one additional van space for the WDW trip if anyone is interested. It's 11 days in total and includes transportation, accommodation and food. Approx a grand+ all in though this is being finalised as we wait for the actual accommodation costs It is a group of 12 people with 3 vans (some are flying down), Max from Ray Petty Meccanica and is Italian from the Varese area is part of the group. Most of the group have been on previous trips and 'know the ropes', first timers will be in good hands. 4 1/2 days in Tradate with the 100hp club who will provide guides for ride outs into the dolomite foothills. With it being the 25th anniversary of the Monster, I expect Ducati will have some Monster oriented events in Misano. Too good to miss. In addition, the 100hp club is having a special Monster night at their club. 13-Jul Friday Depart To Metz - Overnight 14-Jul Saturday Arrive Tradate Event PM -Lunch at 100hp chill Evening event 15-Jul Sunday Short Ride Out/Chill - Lunch at 100hp 16-Jul Monday Ride Out - Dinner at Verve 17-Jul Tuesday Factory Visits - Dinner in Varese 18-Jul Wednesday Ride Out - 100hp night Evening at 100hp 19-Jul Thursday To Misano Via Bologna (Factory) Lunch at Bologna Factory 20-Jul Friday Ride Out 21-Jul Saturday Circuit WDW 22-Jul Sunday To Metz - Overnight (Via Tradate) 23-Jul Monday Depart To Calaise 7 Working Days 11 Days Total Fly/Ride is an option that will reduce the time by at least 2 days (we take the bike, you fly down we pick you up and deliver back to Malpensa airport) PM if you are interested
@Topolino Tony Barker has been running a WDW trip since early 2000. He started just shipping bikes for local to him Ducati dealers and it morphed into a complete package. I've known Tony over 12 years, nobody better at taking due care of bike transportation my opinion. Tony has been organising trips for Ducati Manchester/ Ducati Leeds/ Jefferies BMW etc list goes on. Tony worked for DSV Transport Co. originally until he retired a few years ago and doing Eurobiketrans is more of a hobby nowadays, but as a biker has great fun organising and arranging a variety of trips. Look at his page and give him a call. I'd trust with any bike, he's meticulous. http://www.eurobiketrans.co.uk
Id end up in the divorce courts if i took that up...! (but ive gotta say im working the angles in my head at the moment) - its something im definately going to do at some point....
I'm confirmed for this (bike in van, I'm flying down as I have limited time off work) ... it was a brilliant trip last time. Highly recommended!!
