Hello all. had a quick ride out today. Not really been on bike since serviced in November. I was reminded of clutch feelings notchy as engine gets hot. Anyone got a how to to fix. I have seen comments of something to do with a push rod??
I had that happen to my 1199, it progressively got worse. Water had got into the clutch slave and corroded around the push rod. It was changed under warranty. I think it’s a fairly common issue and I read on here that a good upgrade is an Oberon slave.
So what's the procedure to remove. Do I remove slave and just pull out rod or will something fall off? Is it a good idea to scotchbrite then polish then grease before refitting?
Oberons and slaves in general are a doddle to fit. You will need to bleed afterwards but its straightforward. Takes longer to remove the side panel. Sort of. 30-45m to do. They come with full instructions. remove side panel loosen clutch hose undo and remove 3 allen bolts undo hose completely throw old shitty slave as far as you can whilst swearing and shaking your fist clean area but dont pull the rod out. put new one on put 3 new bolts which come with kit on progressively tighten 3 bolts put new copper washers (supplied) on clutch banjo, screw on bolt, adjust hose position and tighten bolt. get a jar or summit and place some old fluid in it till 50% full(ish) at this point i usually put my nipple ring spanner on (ooer missus) get a bit of pipe and put over bleed nipple, put other end in jar of fluid grip level, loosen off nipple a tiny bit progressively whilst squeezing to find the point fluid bleeds out and pull lever in 50% tighten nipple and release lever, repeat until no bubbles. remember to keep topping up reservoir.
thanks for the instructions bootsam. I will take off OEM slave and look if I can clean up and if no improvement then try an aftermarket one as you suggest.
I submitted a post some time ago. Look for Breaking It Down, The Ducati 1199 Panigale (Modifications-Part 5) on YouTube. It covers the installation of the Oberon clutch slave on the II99... torque specs. are included and no, thread locker is not required. Before installing the Oberon unit I had to bleed my clutch circuit monthly. It was money well spent.
hello all thanks for reply. I removed slave cylinder to find it looked fairly clean. Rinsed piston with wd40 then applied high temp grease to piston and rod. Took for short ride and seamed ok.
I had my slave replaced under warranty as dirt got in and the rod was sticking. Been fine since but clutch feels heavier with this slave Might for an Oberon
